Rem...I can't speak for the whole state, but the numbers of deer in our area are through the roof. I don't think that they need to tighten the limits everywhere...they need to manage the state by area. I know that is being done somewhat...but the state is so different from one area to another, and the bag limits are pretty much similar. And if you look at the kill numbers by county...most of the shortcomings are in the northern part of the state. I have a buddy that hunts in Marshall County and he said he was lucky to even see a deer this year, and in the past they were covered up with them.
I think they need to lower the limit on bucks to 1 or maybe 2...and tighten the doe kill in the areas where the kill was down 30-40 and even 50%.
We also do not have any hunters around us. It used to be a happening during gun season...now we are the only people within miles of our farm that are hunting.
In Braxton county, we had a great year. I got a nice massive 8 with the bow. We killed one 10pt, 2 8pt's and I killed a 3pt plus we took 4 does during the gun season.
