All the cases I have heard of are very mild. Milder than the usual flu. Have not heard of any fever near what you are seeing. The average seasonal flu kills 35,000 people in the US alone every year. Conflicting information drives me crazy. I don't know what to believe.

no one has died that i know of in clinton county but the fever temps are unreal,105 AND OVER.
I NEVER HEARD OF FEVER TEMPS THAT HIGH.its hard to say you have this new flu hn1 thing without testing for it.
stay away from as many people as you can and wash your hands is good advice.

You will die at 106, ya know.
Our Dr. at the Allegheny Health Department says that the symptoms are mild to sometimes moderate and that people are mostly self treating at home. Why would he say that, Sproul? Is there some conspiracy or something? There were three reported cases in our school and the kids were back in school in about 3 or 4 days.

they dont want people with this in hospitals .is 105 mild,i dont think so.i never heard of temps like that is what has me concerned, have you?not all get the 105 and above but they are coming in with those TEMPS.
a lot think they have it and who knows.i dont think they are testing for it just treating it.
my topic was not to scare us but to make us aware some are running fevers i never heard of with flu we have been getting .
me i am staying away from all public things with people coughing etc.

Both my mother in law and her youngest son had flu this week. They didn't get a test to see but the doctors told them that if you are geting flu symptoms at this time it is H1N1....they said the common strains of influenza haven't arrived in the region yet. I don't know what to believe either. I got a standard flu shot at work and my kids are to get the swine flu shot later this month.

sproul is right.
This flu is by far more wide spread (and this is just OCT) and a larger percentage of the cases are causing extreme sickness and death. That being said, the number of extreme cases is less than 1%. However, numbers of total cases and numbers of mortality are still extemely high compared to regular flu when compared on a "flu season to date" basis.
One good thing is most of you old farts have somewhat of a built up immunity from a similar strain present years ago.
There was a segment on it on "60 minutes" last night. My wife also works for the local health dept and we get a lot of info through them. H1N1 is all they talk about, it seems.
