This attitude is what the anti's want. Bury your head in the sand and say it won't happen to us. Another point is that if they get our Guns, your bows will be next. PETA wants to end all hunting!

What good is all these hunting oportunities do us without the right to bear arms.

I see many of my former co-workers(I'm laid off) that were Bush haters and general Repulican haters i have relatives that are the same way.

Yet they hunt and own many guns. they made it clear to me that they would not vote Republican.

I'm not sure how many were NRA members.

Look how many labor unions across the country supported Obama and wanted its members to vote for him. Ya think some of them were NRA members also?

Like I said, I was a member for many years (about 20, I'd guess) and yes, I've sent donations. I just don't take being scammed lightly. Others might not care, I do.

I'm sure if any of you were scammed by any other organization you'd feel the same way and quit supporting them. Some might make an exception because its the NRA, I don't.

Show me where states have had to close hunting seasons because of gun laws that prevented hunters from having guns to hunt with?? States WANT hunters and the revenue they get from them. They would be shooting themselves in the foot if these same states implemented laws that didn't allow hunters the tools to hunt with. Oh yeah, its all the NRA's doing that the states still allow hunting and hunting guns!

Every state in the union has hunting in one form or another, so how successful has PETA really been? A dismal failure in my opinion.

Exactly! Gun owners and hunters have minds of their own and not all of them think alike nor should. Many gun owners and hunters find more importance in other issues than guns only. Of course to NRA members they are all traitors and sleeping with the enemy! LOL

Yes, the NRA uses some heavy handed fund raising techniques and incessantly begs for money. I think that they could do better by asking less often and not wasting so much member money asking for more.

That having been said, WE NEED THE NRA! No other pro gun organization comes close to the efforts and results the NRA gives us.

Do I wish they'd find a better strategy for raising funds than beating us senseless with mailings and phone calls? Yes!
Would I ever let my dues lapse with all the liberals out there trying to destroy the second amandment? NO!

It's not about hunting. It's about our constitutional right to bear arms. So you're saying it's ok for them to outlaw my snubnosed 38 that I have in my nightstand because I don't use it for hunting? That kind of attitude is exactly what is going to give our 2nd ammendment rights a death sentence. I have been a member for 12 years (ever since my dad paid for my first years dues when I was in high school) The nra will fight for my rights to have any guns whether they are used for hunting or not.

Back when Clinton ran against George H.W. Bush, I had a list of local NRA members (my zipcode), who were not registered to vote. Armed with that printout and a pile of mail-in registration forms that I'd picked up, went around over a period of a few weeks, knocking on doors and encouraging those members to register to vote.

Got more than a little bit of grief from several, who assumed I was working for the Bush campaign, although I told them up front that I was an NRA volunteer, the NRA wanted members to be able to vote and that's how I had their names/addresses (NRA/ILA had sent them to me).

One guy got really wound up, told me he was "voting union" (Clinton), cursed the Republicans for a coupla minutes, then told me to get the bleep out of his driveway.

In my experiences, there are quite a few guys in PA who own firearms and hunt, but still vote how their unions tell them to, come election time. Their unions ain't encouraging them to vote Republican.

I've helped out in the NRA booth at the Eastern Sports and Outdoors show for years. Almost every year some yahoo will come up and rant about the Repubs "sticking it to the working man", the NRA is all about supporting Republicans and that he will never join, etc.

Two years ago an older guy stood there for 15 minutes in front of the booth, yelling about NRA standing for Nat'l Republican Assoc. and shouting all sorts of bizaare crap, before the gathering crowd booed him on his way down the aisle.

I pay for my membership every year at my local outdoor show. It's been a tradition for me since Hillary was elected to the NY Senate
