6 dollars or so to harvest a beautiful doe .even if it went to 30 dollars hunters will pay it.i fished bass tournaments for longtime and saw how easy it was for people to spend 30 dollars.heck, i know where 3 treestands are right now from last season.each was 300 dollars, they left them in woods.

30 dollars for doe tag is pocket change compared to what i see in woods by hunters being spent on.

my brother is going to a eagles game on thursday.he is taking his 2 boys.i bet he will spend over 350 dollars for tickets/food/motel/gas.

While I won't support the general license increase until changes are made...I would gladly support a doe license increase and a substantial one at that. I honestly don't know how many guys would continue to buy multiples at $30 a pop. My guess is folks will limit themselves to one...possibly two if you have some extra burning a hole in your pocket.. Raise those DMAP's too. We'll see how many guys are going to kill ten doe when they have to pay $300 to do it. Of course...just another pipe dream. I think we have a better chance of them handing out free unlimited doe tags than raising the fees. If they get a substanial fee increase on the general tag, I wouldn't be surprised. If they could make up the revenue on the backtag, I could easily see them lowering the cost of doe tags, or issue them free with the general license...or worse yet start up an earn a buck program in which your buck tag isn't validated until you've killed a doe. The last thing I could ever see them do is make it less appealing for hunters to shoot a doe. Goes against the agenda, imo.

good info.i have friend who works for DCNR. he used to get 6 or so DMAP tags.last year he complained,SPROUL THEY ARE NOW 10 DOLLARS . the kids sproul, think of kids we cant have this, KIDS, KIDS, KIDS, KIDS...................many use KID thing to find ways to kill more doe or as president of WCCSA said when we said its hard to get deer.he said, I FILL FREEZER EVERY YEAR AND HAVE NO TROUBLE DOING IT.what he does not tell you he hunts on PRIVATELAND and goes to ny state and hunts on privateland.he made comment,I SEE PLENTY OF DEER EVERYTIME I GO OUT.his own cousin said,HOW COULD YOU ,WHEN WAS LAST TIME YOU HUNTED ON SFL?

sorry i got off track on your comments.

i do believe doe tags /dmaps are way to low even if you have KIDS.i saw kid at store buy fudge that was 12 dollars for 10 pieces,i could not believe it.it was special fudge.his dad is one that buys all those tags.they get 6 doe at least every year.6 doe for 36 dollars.

trust me, they will still buy doe tags .only thing that could happen is ones that buy tag and dont use it may stop doing that or may shoot doe to pay for license.actually most i talk to could care less about a BUCK.they want MEAT...

So why are so many hunters opposed to a increase in the general license fees?

Cornelius08 08-13-2009 07:19 AM

I think antlerless licenses should go up because even if they tripled the price to 18-20 bucks or so, it would be a reasonable price to harvest an extra deer above and beyond the one tag you get with the license. I also believe that with even half as many sold, they would still be getting more total funds from the sales. I dont believe as many as currently could be sold, which imho is a good thing as well.

As for general license fee increase... We pay for responsible management and we are getting a helluva lotta nonsense instead. TONS of money wasted on complete nonsense, and pgc already has one of the top amounts of total funding in the country if not the top. For me, it is NO CHANGES = NO CASH. Unfortunately we are about to get screwed by the scam audit.

NO CHANGES = NO CASH
AMEN. And SIGNIFICANT changes at that.

What you guys are suggesting sounds good I feel $18 would be fair it would keep me from buying 2 and not using them, and maybe a few others will not do the 5 or 6 deer per year.

But you still have the areas where deer need killed how are you going to get that done?

[QUOTE]But you still have the areas where deer need killed how are you going to get that done?[/QUOTE

That is precisely why there will not be a significant increase in the price of doe tags.

well we could send some of our idiots to those locations.
at army tank in renovo we have 2 mothers and 3 fawns every night.everyone knows they are here.last night ONE OF OUR LOCAL IDIOTS HIT THE MOTHER.he was speeding in big truck that he races around renovo with.renovo cant afford police protection and cutting hrs then these a holes start flying around.

guess what,he is related to local big time poacher ..........
so maybe they could use these nuts to reduce herd in areas that have to many deer.:throw:

Just got back last night from 6 days in 3A.

Saw upwards of 30 deer each night, driving around right at dusk and several very nice bucks. Not bad for 30-45 minutes on the road, usually after some woodchuck hunting in the area.

The locals seem to be fairly excited about such things? One farmer who has grumbled for the past few seasons about "no deer", even seemed upbeat about deer numbers. We spent some time jabberin' about deer Saturday night, after I helped him round up some of his loose beefers that were out on the road.
