Who thinks its worth buying the lifetime sportsman license ??
I bought my lifetime license about 20 years ago when i was 18 years old it was a good investment , I really had no bills at the time and allot of years of hunting ahead of me. It still makes sense for you if you can afford the price ( $960 - $780 without muzzleloading ) if you hunt for another 25 years into your mid 60's with the new prices comming up and not taking into account future increases you would spend $2200 over 25 years that is $1240 more than the intial lump sum. I would buy without the muzzloader and just pick up a muzzle tag if you decide to hunt the late season that specific year

You only have until 9/30/09 before the prices increase ($1235- $1000)

The payback for buying the lifetime now with bow and mz is 10 years - less if there is any increase in less then 10. Anyone planning to hunt another 10 or more would be very wise to buy it now.

Did anyone also see that the Regular firearms season for both the Northern and Southern zones are a week shorter than last year? (seems NY Bowhunters Inc. achieved their goal of destroying the rights of others)

Awesome, I get to pay $30 more for 2 weeks less hunting.

How is the regular season shorter? From what I see it is the same amount of days as last year. The season did start earlier last year, but that is due to when the 15th falls in November. It did start earlier, but then ended earlier. We are still getting the same amount of days to hunt.

My mistake. The Southern Zone is the same as last year, 22 days.

It is only the Northern Zone that is shorter because the bow season is running longer. (50 days last year, 44 days this year.)

I for one will be getting my lifetime sportsman, bow and ML tags before Oct 1st. The price increase doesn't take effect on lifetime permits untill Oct 1st

Definitely worth it for those that are young enough, as are all lifetime license opportunities. Wish I had done it years ago.

PJ - I believe the end date for the old price is 8/17.

Hate to see you miss it.

Doesn't big game season in Northern zone always start, as it is this year, the next to last Saturday in October, and run, as it does this year, through the first Sunday in December??

That blows... I have permission to hunt up in Madison Co, New York, up on my sisters 125 acre farm. But for $140, and a 10 hour drive up from Virginia? Sorry sis... It ain't worth it!
