I am not one to get involved in all the PGC bashing that goes on around here but... i found it alittle odd that the advertisement on the inside cover of the year's digest was for EXCALIBUR crossbows :confused2:

Why?

Even last year 20% or more of all of the state’s archery hunters were legal to use crossbows during archery season, either because of having a special permit or by hunting in one of the special regulations areas of the state were cross bows have been legal for any one to use for several years. Also anyone could use a crossbow, anywhere in the state, during the firearms or muzzle loading deer seasons if properly licensed.

This year anyone can use a crossbow during at least part of and perhaps all of the archery season.

So I have to wonder why you would find it odd that crossbows manufactures would pay to advertise their product in the Pennsylvania hunting digest.

I can't recall where I read it today, but according to the article some of those crossbow ads in that Digest cost in the neighborhood of $12,000!

I'll tell you this: if it were my advertising dollars in that digest, and/or I had stuck a bunch of money into a crossbow setup, I'd be one whizzed off sonofabeech over this latest PGC BOC debacle.

One motel owner in Rexford told me yesterday that he had bookings from a group of 8 crossbow hunters from Ohio that had set up their vacations, booked rooms and purchased licenses for the first week of November. They heard the news and cancelled. Hopefully, he will be able to get in touch with them and explain that this new amendment in't set in stone as I explained it to him.

Huh?, 20% of the states archers seems like a pretty fair number for a weapon no one wants to use??? Me thinks BTB and his minions might want to look at that number, if organized I am sure it will grow. Maybe visit http://www.pacrossbow.com I am thinking there might be more dogs in the fight then Corny , BTB and their pals think.

If you look back, you will see that that number has been discussed here before. It has to do with the fact that our disabled crossbow regulation is a "shall issue" rule. That basically means that if a doctor signs off, the permit gets issued.

That didnt change the fact that 90% of the public comment was against the crossbow nor does it change the fact that the impact of full inclusion had not been studied. Although you have chosen to ignore it, I have said many times that I personally have no problem with the weapon. I have a problem with allowing something in where we have no credible information on how it will impact the unique situations that is PA and that 90% of PA hunters who voiced an opinion were opposed to inclusion.

Personally I think this crossbow issue is going to be a passing fad. When some hunters realize you still need some bow hunting skills to harvest a deer with one, they will lose interest. After I got my new Guardian dialed in, I can't see any advantage owning a cross bow.

Look further and you will find 4 of the first 4 ads for Specific products- (not distributors or organizations) are all for crossbows.... 4 Of The First 4 !!!! Look for yourself.

I don't find it odd at all it is just what i expect from the PAGC. Money first

Why the big fuss over xbow ads in the Digest? They've been accepting ATV ads for years and still don't allow them on SGLs without a disabled permit.

Hey... maybe you can try that next. Crossbow from a fourwheeler! Why not take everything from the handicapped? I bet you would love that! You won't have to practice much and you can sleep in a little longer since you won't have to walk that whole 200 yds from the truck. Only an xbow supporter would have made the xbow /fourwheeler comparison... it figures!
