Default Generation Gap among hunters

All these discussions, polls ,opinions about Pa deer hunting lately no one has considered the generation gap. I experienced it among hunters. If a young person just starts hunting the only experince in seeing deer is NOW. He thinks seeing 3 deer a week is the norm. So if he sees 2 the next year it is good. I have talked to many hunters and find the generation gap wide and real. I ask , What you see. Answer, WOW 3 this week on the 3000 acre gamelands. Super aint they say. Well NO 20 years ago I would of seen 40. Hey same land, no development. Same food. No it aint super. When polls are taken the consideration must be given to who is being ask. These new Babes in hunting were not even born when us old timers were hunting. I believe the deer herd can be brought backk to 70s level. But it will take some BIG_____sacrifice from individuals and less dependency on the PGC.I remember My dad telling me the story about in the 1930s. If they seen a deer track it was news and everyone would go to see it. How did the deer herd then get to the 60s thru the 80s big levels ?? Very limited doe hunting or none. 2 + 2 still eguals 4. I know some people dont want a big deer herd no more. Why, because really they dont care enough to dig in their pockets and support that size herd with their own money. Another words they are cheap and are expecting the Government to give them a free ride. Just my opinion.

While I don't expect to ever see the herd of the 70s, and don't care to, I think PGC deer management credibility could go a long wayby allocating doe permits via the private vs public land instead of the blanket policy the use now.

As far as I'm concerned, until the PGC goes to a private vs public system, there ain't no way they can claim to be managing a deer herd by anything other than junk science.
