RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PA DEER AUDIT?

Could this explain our tough guy bodybuilder's behavior here. Bad stuff those steroids. Lots of familiar stuff here. I think we'd be hard pressed to finda better explanation........

Anabolic Steroids
Af
fect the Brain
Parts of the brain that influence your moods and are involved in learning and memory are called the limbic system. Anabolic steroids act in the limbic system. In animals, they have been shown to impair learning and memory. They can also lead to changes in mood, such as feelings of depression or irritability.
Anabolic steroid users may act mean to people they're normally nice to, like friends and family.
Anabolic steroids in the brain may trigger really aggressive behavior. Some outbursts can be so severe they have become known in the media as "roid rages."
[hr]Anabolic Steroids Can Confuse the Brain and Body
Your body's testosterone production is controlled by a group of nerve cells at the base of the brain, called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus also does a lot of other things. It helps control appetite, blood pressure, moods, and reproductive ability.
Anabolic steroids can change the messages the hypothalamus sends to the body. This can disrupt normal hormone function.
In guys, anabolic steroids can interfere with the normal production of testosterone. They can also act directly on the testes and cause them to shrink. This can result in a lower sperm count and reproductive ability. They can also cause an irreversible loss of scalp hair.
In girls, anabolic steroids can cause a loss of the monthly period by acting on both the hypothalamus and reproductive organs. They can also cause loss of scalp hair, growth of body and facial hair and deepening of the voice. These changes are also irreversible.

Dont know why my mere mention of "working out" or similar activity begets that response from you every time. I only mentioned it because that is what I was doing at the time, and to explain I wasnt picking potato chips out of my belly while posting like some others....:D Im guessing either a high level of intimidation (dont be skeered, Im not interested in beating the arse of some loud mouth obnoxious internet hero, I promise!)

Or jealous because of your own physical stature is equal to a globulous couch potato. LMao.

To me, its just part of life. Not bragging, or showing off. Its just like huntin', fishin, shootin' pool or any other of many activities I do regularly. Get over it skeerdy cat! Lmao! Making fun because someone is in great shape and 10X stronger than you is about the same as laughing at them for having more money, being better looking or smarter. LMAO.

You should try workin' out yerself. Dont want to have a heart attack walking 75 yards carrying a 5 lb bow....or walking up the stairs at the next audubon meeting now do you? LMAO.

....I never said any of the such. I said you jokers were BELOW average... Therefore an average guy benching 100 lbs doesnt mean a thing. Therefore if I can bench in the neighborhood of 450, Im guessing YOUR neighborhood at 45lb. Remember we are talking about...You... and one whos a physical wreck. (he who the comment was directed to before you chose to defend your lil friend) LOL.;)

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PA DEER AUDIT?

I think the audit has now become a waste of time. The sportsmen of Pa were for the most part fine with using science and facts to guide deer management, rather then the old way of the squeaky wheel gets the grease. But the PUS (PA. Unified Sportsman) whinned and whinned to the legislature that there was a vast conspiracy, someone cooked the books, yada yada, we want an audit, thinking it would never happen. Then when it did and all the sportsmen and the PGC backed it, they thought great, since they knew their lawsuit was in shambles it would be a way to have someone else do our dirty work for us because we have very little money. Then the out of state firm backed out because of the lawsuit that they didn't want dragged into. So the legislature made the pus sign off that they wouldn't pull this firm into litigation. To save face they had to agree.
Now they are on a mission to badmouth the whole audit. The unbiased audit that they wanted and even their president praised for being the best choice for a fair and un-biased firm to conduct the audit.

So I think it's now a waste of time to validate what most know. Because the naysayers are already set in their conclusion before it even starts. They've even came up with a conspiracy that involves the UN.

What have you seen from the USP where they bad mouthed the audit? How can a firm that supports biodiversity do an unbiased audit, when managing the herd based on biodiversity supports the goals of one group of stake holders while dismissing the goals of the hunters who actually do the work of controlling the herd?

Cornelius08 06-01-2009 01:00 PM

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PA DEER AUDIT?

"I think the audit has now become a waste of time. "

I agree, because its being done by a pgc "YES MAN" organization with strong ties to pgc.

"The sportsmen of Pa were for the most part fine with using science and facts to guide deer management, rather then the old way of the squeaky wheel gets the grease."

I think hunters are for "science" but deer are managed using much more than science. Opinions and "values" play a role. Unfortunately those "values" getting the grease are the ecoflakes and their bionut agenda. See audubon website for details.

"But the PUS (PA. Unified Sportsman) whinned and whinned to the legislature that there was a vast conspiracy, someone cooked the books, yada yada, we want an audit, thinking it would never happen. The way I heard it, Pgc also played a role in the delay. Apparently they were terrified something would be turned up in an audit that could be expanded upon and then used against them in court. They stated that they "WOULD BE RELUCTANT TO COOPERATE WITH AN AUDIT WITH THE ONGOING LAWSUIT" You also forgot to mention Audubon and pfsc wanted the audit as well. They saw it as a lesser evil than possible legislative intervention that might actually allow a few more reasonable number of trillium gobbling "woods wreckers" to exist! LMAO! Audubon also knew they had an ace in the hole with wmi the probable auditor, they knew they could swing it, thanks to their men on the scene, including Levdansky. Wmi the company their own Bryon Shissler as well as other econuts and other pgc drones have worked for, including...surprise surprise, our newest commissioner would shamelessly wield the rubber stamp!.

"Now they are on a mission to badmouth the whole audit. The unbiased audit that they wanted and even their president praised for being the best choice for a fair and un-biased firm to conduct the audit."

Can you provide a link to USP's position? I wasnt aware that they were against an audit. Thus far Ive only heard hunters in general opposed. Havent heard much from usp lately on the position of the officers of the club. Not doubting it, just havent seen it myself. Last I heard they were a bit misguided and actually supported it.....despite the fact they are basically sticking their necks in the noose by doing so. Maybe they have come to their senses and finally smelled the stink that this crooked farce is putting off?

BTBowhunter 06-01-2009 04:21 PM

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PA DEER AUDIT?

Actually the USP president has issued a statement expressing confidence in WMI and the audit.

I must admit that I was surprised at firstbut Mr Mohrhas it right this time.

This is a $90,000 contract. The results will invariably be under a microscope. WMI does work for 40 states and 4 provinces. In the big picture, $90 grand for one contract is a drop in the bucket and with their credibility with all their other customerson the line, doing anything less than a fair, impartial, and professional job would be total business suicide.

bluebird2 06-02-2009 02:41 AM

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PA DEER AUDIT?

WMI has already stated that the herd should be managed for the benefit of the other stake holders , rather than for hunters. Therefore there is no way they can provide a fair and unbiased audit when they have already stated their bias against hunters.

More spin from the bird. The correct wording is all stakeholders not other
Hunters do, of course, get input too. The bird simply has a problem allowing for the concerns and interests of the people who feed the deer and provide most of the land they live on. The only way he'll ever besatisfied is to buy some ground and fence in his own deer farm.

bluebird2 06-02-2009 08:28 AM

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PA DEER AUDIT?

If the goal is to manage the herd at the biodiversity CC , then hunters will have no input and WMI supports biodiversity..

Here is what WMI has to say about hunter input.

3.) Not-withstanding the relationship between hunter's financial support and agency governance described above, the foundation of the continent's wildlife conservation programs rests on sound science. In modern times, when a super-majority of citizens do not hunt, continued support for deer management programs arises from citizen’s belief that such programs result in sustainable harvests which are designed to obtain specific population goals that are complementary to societal goals.

So they are saying the herd should be managed for societal goals and not the goals of the hunters.

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PA DEER AUDIT?

Bluebird, If you dont see the point real there, you are beyond help.

We are Custers army at Little Big Horn. The only thing keeping hunting alive right now is that most of the indians still like us (hunters).

The anti's are doing their thing to change opinion about us every day and our only sensible option is to make sure we stay on the good side of the nonhunting majority. Staying with good science and protecting all species as well as the habitat and also considering the input fromthe nonhunting public is essential to huntings long term survival.

bluebird2 06-02-2009 10:18 AM

RE: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PA DEER AUDIT?

The vast majority of the non-hunting public don't give a rip about how many deer we have unless they hit one with their car. Crying wolf about deer hunting being banned is just plain silly. The last thing the state wants is the expense and aggravation of trying to control the deer herd statewide.

Well to resurrect an old thread, not for the purpose of rubbing it in the face of those above whom were wrong, but just to give the conclusion to the topic. It seems the Pa game commissions deer management plan has been vindicated by an outside independent source that they are on the right track afterall. Some tweaks were recommended but overall it got the thumbs up. But then again, most logical thinkers already concluded that.

Cornelius08 02-19-2010 10:30 AM

Well to resurrect an old thread, not for the purpose of rubbing it in the face of those above whom were wrong,
Youre right, I was wrong. I expected a whitewash from a biased company, and what I got was FAR FAR different than expected. I guess the "slinkster" was right lol. He said the company was trustworthy. I thought he didnt have a stinking clue what he was talking about.

Vindicated? lmao. Id say the exact opposite. I guess you didnt read it, or you one of those with an extra special interest in pgc/dcnr dealings.... Dont care. None of my business.

But to summarize, the deer plan as-is isnt worth the paper to wipe my back side. And now its proven. I honestly wish I could delete this entire thread, because I couldnt have been more wrong and feel bad about some of the things i said about wmis credibility.

But on another note, you can always take that position over to hpa. I understand out of all those users there are 3 or 4 pgc & dcnr employees posting that agree with YOUR sentiment. lmao.

WMI did a very reasonable evalutation and confirmed what many of us felt about the deer plan all along. Nice try at damage control, but no dice friend.

Im sure our fine legislators will see it clearly, and I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But i happen to know some who have given that same sentiment, and are also tired of the "ecofolks" and their involvement.

Imho, this audit is EXACTLY what was needed. Thank you WMI!

Unsupported deer plan for a decade...based on 100% insufficent data on all fronts, both biologically and forest healthwise and poor approach to social issues. Time for legislators to put the squeeze on the pgc.

MeatHunter2 02-19-2010 12:07 PM

OMG, are you really going to attempt to spin this to something positive for you anti management guys. rotflmao Give me a break.

bluebird2 02-19-2010 12:20 PM

Take a break and read the audit and you will see the audit agrees more with those of us who questioned the DMP,then it does with those that supported the plan.

Cornelius08 02-19-2010 12:31 PM

"OMG, are you really going to attempt to spin this to something positive for you anti management guys."

SPin? lmao. No spin necessary. Thanks to wmi. But your nonstop damage control attemps are a bit entertaining.

I also dont think i need to explain my position. All you have to do is look at the latest audit thread i started if you dont know my position.

Cornelius08 02-19-2010 12:34 PM

"Take a break and read the audit and you will see the audit agrees more with those of us who questioned the DMP,then it does with those that supported the plan."

I agree bb, apparently he must not have wanted to take the time to read the 202 page report. Seems just about everything other than the rock bottom basic guidelines was a miserable failure. Wonder how that will effect the usp case?

Bb, you might know more about it than i, but I seem to recall that the lawsuit was based on the contention that the plan for the last decade of extreme management has been based on nothing and that the herd health data was insufficient? Is that the case?

Its no wonder pgc wouldnt cooperate with the audit until USP agreed to not call the auditor as a witness.
