Is the P.G.C. in suicide mode?
 

As an organization goes is it me or are the leadership members doing every thing possible to destroy the commission as we know it? Is it being done so that a new board or controlling position can be formed?
Or what reasons do you see for the obviously unfavorable decisions that have isolated,offended& been made with all most every different group of former supporters.
As examples I Will say,
1. Deer management.
2. Cross bows
3. Giving the N.W.T.F. the governors elk tag.

The deer management will always be controversial.
The Xbows decision really pissed off the states bow hunters.
But what kind of moron gives the most valuable elk tag east of the Mississippi to the turkey federation?
Of course like every other decision the P.G.C. makes this one had $$$$$$ in the back ground as 80 % of the money generated by the tag goes back to the general fund,who'd a thought it.
They seem hell bent on pissing off and driving a wedge between each and every last supporter they had in the state.

Hunter are very low on the ladder, but at least one step above PETA. We have a few PGC supporters on here, that will agree with everything they do.

They say that they use sound wildlife management decisions based on what their experts recommend,yet all I see are dollar signs behind these recommendations.
A governors elk tag seems like a great Idea,it will raise a windfall of cash which is a win -win when it comes to benefiting this states wildlife.
Yet instead of a benefit the board chose to slap the R.M.E.F. in the face by giving the tag to the Wild turkey federation.I don't see how anyone could see this as any thing but a total insult to the Elk foundation and its supporters,while driving yet another wedge between two more groups of hunters.
It seems that divide and conquer is their goal.[:@]

Just as we have supporters here we have detractors that that will chastise any ideas before they are given a chance to develop.To some its a bad idea because it comes from the P.G.C.
That's a slippery stone to try standing on.;)

Still reeling over the xbow vote and how they severed one of their best remaining ties...the UBP who had suported them through HR, AR, etc. RSB ranting about general funds supporting the PGC as opposed to their slumping license sales....they are finding the ones who support them most and cutting their throats while they sleep.

I'm not saying that the Turkey federation is not a very deserving organization,they are far reaching and very successful in their mission yet ,giving the first of what should be many Elk tags to them instead of the Elk foundation smells a lot like a skunk was in the wood pile.
They say they are not purposely trying to piss people off,yet they couldhardly find better methods if they were.:eek:

Good topic Jim. In order with the way you listed. Deer being our number one game animal,"my opinion",will always stir controversy on how they should be managed. Putting farmers,homeowners ect. to the side for a minute.Hunters themselves will disagree on how the deer should be managed and always will. Even though I do not want to deprive anybody on how they want to enjoy the outdoors, I too think the way we brought crossbows into archery season,it should have been on a more gradual introduction.[/align]As far as the elk tag,my personal opinion,that was totally wrong. Maybe one of the other problems is us, the hunters? Just using the crossbow issue for an example. We know there was somewhere in the ballpark of 4,000 votes against crossbows. Even though that is a substantial number,it truly does not represent "ALL" of the license buying hunters. So maybe, just maybe,the game commission felt the rest of hunters didn't care way or the other? Also another factormay be within the game commission itself?[/align]There seam's to be allot of head butting as of late,amongst the commissioners themselves and even with their biologists.Is it just one or two that want to exercise their power or ego's? You can't even count that as a factual statement because of the following facts:

#1. Agency biologists recommended 45 elk permits to allow the herd to grow. BOCs went against biologists advice and allocated 59.

#2. Biologists recommended not opening up a grouse study area on SGL 176, and dang if it wasn't opened up to hunters anyhow.

#3. Biologists recommended not adding an extra week of fall turkey hunting in one WMU, and dang if the extra week wasn't added anyhow.

So, basing my opinion on the above facts, along with the deer program, the crossbow vote, the Governors tag, and a host of other remarkable notations that I've noticed about a few of the BOC snakes, I believe it is time to clean house. We've been flim flammed.

The PGC has had no credibility for a very long time if ever, I'm 66 years old and have very seldom heard a word of praise for them. Did you know that they purchased and stocked rabbits at one time? When you hunted snowshoes, rabbits were out of season, then they opened rabbits for the entire state, rather than where snowshoes were know to exist. Made a lot of sense to shoot the breeders off with the snow on the ground. They used to stock snowshoes, but I don't if they do anymore. They cut down on their pheasant stocking when the clubs starting raising their own. They had a bounty on fox and owls, now fox are protected part of the year. Perhaps the hunters that were seeing a hundred deer a day thought highly of this organization, but when they were "USED" to shoot off the does, then the sparks began to fly. This organization is and was never independent, they will sell out to higher bidder, just like any other politician.
