I took a walk in Moshannon state forest yesterday afternoon. This area used to have a ton of deer but really took a beatingright after 2001 because it has fairly easy access.I hunted it this year for two days during firearms seasonand saw a fair number of deer and very very fewhunters. There had been some logging over the past8 years and the regeneration was starting to look pretty good. The deer herd started to rebound probably because there was less pressure and more food.In any event,I saw 4 live deer yesterday in the two hours I was walking around the crunchy snow.I found one dead deer, probably either killed by coyotes or just lost during huntingseason. In any event,I was checking outan area near a small hemlock stand that was cut about 4 years ago.Almost every blackberry stem and every seedling, other than beech was browsed.Alot of them were browsed down the diameter of my small finger. If the herd continues to grow in this area, there will be almost no preferred regeneration.Right now,it's quickly turning into a beech and striped maple stand. It's unfortunate because three years ago,the oak regeneration was looking pretty good.

You can just keep posting your dead horse pictures because that is about the extent of your knowledge and I will just keep posting the facts which are supported by the latest research.

I see an ironic problem looming ahead in areas like the one you describe above Doug. Hunter pressure seems to have dropped considerably in the big woods areas where HR did what it needed to do and now the herd may be at risk of rebounding too far without enough hunter harvest to keep the herd in balance with the habitat once again. I can see even more DMAPS etc popping up in the future

That is precisely what I predicted would happen ,as a result of the PGC's over harvesting of the herd. Remember, I said it was the PGC's responsibility to manage both the hunters and the herd.

I agree. Maybe the PGC needs to develop a remedial course for frustrated stump sitters to help them learn how to actually hunt for deer.

So , does that mean you want hunters to kill more deer and reduce the herd to the biodiversity carrying capacity? Do you even know what the biodiversity density might be?

It means that I have learned enough about proper deer management to ignore the Spattlers and Slinkskys and USPers of this world and let the professionals do their job so that those of us who are willing to HUNT, can relax and enjoy our favorite sport

It also means that trying to explain anything to you is like trying to teach the proverbial pig to sing. That only serves to frustate the teacher and annoy the pig.

Are you now going to start sending me threatening letters.? Have you no class or will you stoop to any level , no matter how low it might be.

BtW , if you have learned to ignore me , why do you keep responding to my posts? Why are you wasting so much time that you could use for scouting or doing habitat work? Could it be you don't own any land and don't do habitat work?

Have no idea where that came from but no, you have no need to worry there. I have not ever nor will I ever be threatening anyone here. I think you may have me confused with one or two of your lemming followers.

One has to be angry to resort to threats. The way it's shaping up, guys like you are becoming nothing more than an amusing distraction.

Well why don't you post your full name ,address and telephone number , if you see no problem in posting real names. You obviously have a serious problem if you need to continually to violate the MB rules in order to get revenge or some personal satisfaction. A guy did that on HPA and was banned.
