Antler Restrictions (What they found in TX)

Here are no studies that conclude the exact opposite. What they conclude is that there is no reason to cull 1.5 spikes. They also conclude that spikes are inferior for the rate of antler development and therefore they are concluding that protecting 1.5 spikes while harvesting the better buck will result in high grading and smaller average rack size.
Eliminate ARs!!!
quote:
In the face of alot of research that supports the prospect of AR's producing high grading effects, we may be closing the door to more top end specimens like him in the future.
Have you read the research that concludes the opposite?

What would you suggest we do statewide in PA?
Well since the vast majority supports AR, it seems you've got a better chance trying EJ's idea. It's not as if it will cost you any venison

The majority support ARs because they weren't told ARs will reduce the rack sizes and that we now have fewer 2.5+ buck than before ARs.

As a total % of the herd today we have a greater percentage of 2.5 year olds now.
This is so elementary you'd think even a baby [&:]bird could understand it.

The funny thing is Alt and the PGC apparently didn't understand it because they told hunters for years that we would have more and bigger buck than ever before, and a lot of hunters believed them. I didn't.

And if Alt and the PGC had said that they wouldn't have been lying!!
And even a little bird can see as a percentage of the herd we have more and bigger bucks.
Who says you can't teach an old [&:]bird new tricks?

They would be bigger buck only because the average buck harvested with an AR herd would be bigger than the average bucks in a non_AR herd only because the smaller buck would not be illegal. The average rack size of 2.5+ buck will always be smaller with ARs than the rack size of the average 2.5+ buck in a non-AR herd.

The little [&:]bird of wisdom has spoken, "always"
Any thing on that apology yet?
