Did a very short walk through one of our 2B spots todaytoward my buddy on the other end with his bow. Put out 7 does and 4 bucks. 2 of the bucks were AR legal and one was a very nice8 that would go around 125"-130". We never saw this guy all season. Guess he has a digest;). He'll be super next year!

Just did that one very short walk. This arctic air isreal tough tobreathe with this old bum ticker:(

The deer were up on their feet and moving everywhere we drove in the truck. Dang I wish I could have handled it a bit longer and stayed out:(

we used to have hunting like that on PUBLICLAND in wmu2g,now to get that kind of hunting you have to hunt 2B.

1 of my friends kids lives in zeinanople,i hope i spelled that right.

he wont even come here to hunt in clinton county anymore.

nothing for him to get a doe in 2B.

That's the way hunting is on a deer farm.

I've been out every day since the snow and I'm seeing a few tracks that are being made by a group of 4 antlerless that have been hanging around since the concurrent season ended. Haven't seen a legal buck since archery season.

I could give you somepointers but you'll have to straighten up and quit making up facts as you go along before I'd agree to teach you.

I don't need any pointers from a guy that has it that easy. You'd be in for a rude awakening if you hunted where I do. Now I know your response will be if hunting is so bad why do you hunt there? My answer is that I live here and there is no reason we shouldn't have good hunting like we had in the past and this is where I want to hunt.

BTBowhunter 01-15-2009 12:44 PM

RE: walkin in my woods

part of hunting is figuring out where the deer are. I was merely offering to help you with that. When onecan't or won't learn,he is doomed to make the same mistakes over and over.

I know where the deer are. They are in the safety zones and areas where we can't hunt.

I said nothing about the entire herd in the state and you knew I was referring to the area where I hunt. Instead you completely distorted what I said which is the equivalent of a flat out lie. You can't stand the fact that I can support my position with facts while all you have is name calling ,cheap shots and lies.

It's neither a cheap shot or a lie to say that you either can't or won't find huntable deer.

BTW, this thread was completely non confronational as are many here before you post on them. The first confrontational"cheap shot" on this thread was this:

That's the way hunting is on a deer farm.
Don't want to take cheap shots? Don't fire em!

I stated why I hunt where I hunt and you distorted that to claim I said the entire statewide herd hides in safety zones, Your cheap shots and insults are not limited to one thread . You take them wherever you go.

And you two idiots (yes I mean you Corny and Blueboy)
yap about name calling?

You are so eager to keep this forum in a state of free for all that you cant even let someon ask a legitimate question of another member.
Blueboy, if thats the best you got. The fact that I don't know every county in the WMU's where Idon't travel through or hunt, well I guess you got me. Feel important now?

And you Corny, you're so completely stupid that you try to insult my question by answering it with your little whistling smiley but guess what? You obviously don't know either cause you answered wrong skippy!

You two are amusing

actually alot of bigs bucks in the off season will let you get close, often times you will pass by without noticing them....i was under ten yards from the 10 point in my picture ( <- ) in our bear season before he jumped up and scared the shi* out of me

I agree but our season is still in for does and bucks just ended Saturday. It's a little early for what looked like a 3 year old buck to be complacent about a human walking straight at him that close.

i lived in bradford county, i worked in olean,ny.

that county had a ton of deer, more thyan clinton/potter/cameron put together.

dont know how it is now but in 1991, LOTS OF DEER IN THAT COUNTY.

sproul the bradford co area has took a hit from hr but my land i set how many doe gets killed
and several of the other landowners dont allow or only shoot so many doe i am lucky to have decent
hunting still but i do know alot of other areas around bradford co that are not as lucky i know a guy
who has 600 acres and saw 1 doe last yr but thereare alot of meat hunters that shot every doe
they could find a tag for . for along time they did it that way

bluebird2 01-16-2009 03:49 PM

RE: walkin in my woods

But they couldn't have killed all those doe unless the PGC issued the tags. don't blame the hunters for doing what the PGC experts ask them to do.

RE: walkin in my woods

Landowner management is getting to be more and more important and it sounds like you've got a handle on it Bowtruck.:DMost hunters agree that the WMU's are too big and landowner involvement is the best way to handle it.

bluebird2 01-16-2009 04:04 PM

RE: walkin in my woods

Unfortunately even landowners that own huge parcels of land can't escape the effects of HR. i know of a club that owns 2 SM of land and their buck harvest dropped from 12-14 buck /yr. to 4 buck in 2008. This club manages their land strictly for the production of quality deer and their harvest rate is only slightly better than the worst WMU in the state.

NY, east of Lake Ontario, the only way you can walk the woods is with a real good pair of snowshoes. We just got blasted with 2 1/2ft snow yesterday, thats ontop of the 3ft alreadly had!! The deer around my place use 1 main trail along the edge of a pond, through a thick hemlock woods. They bed anyplace along its edge. But I've been seeing a steady herd of around dozen deer. They go to some corn thats available for them all winter long. The deep snow, and below zero temps makes you wonder how they can survive at all around here. They're definitly amazing animals.

BLUE....BIRD, NO ,YOU ARE WRONG.

its hunters themselves, have to get meat ahead of you or me.

many of us dont kill doe where they are few.

there are 9 of us that dont do it in clinton county i hunt with.

if we did, that would be 9 less doe left each year.

9 crews came thru my area and killed 1 buck and 1 doe,9 crews of at least 8 hunters a crew.

1 crew had 20 and never saw deer that day.
they got 4 buck and 3 doe for 2 weeks of hunting.

yes, they issue tags and these meat hungry hunters that kill 3/6 deer in areas of few deer are disgusting.

PGC /DCNRis behind it all with all tags they issue in counties with few deer.

bluebird2 01-17-2009 08:31 AM

RE: walkin in my woods

Those crews couldn't have killed those doe if the PGC didn't issue the tags. Apparently those crews don't agree with your assessment of the state of the herd. They found deer to harvest and they apparently enjoyed the hunt ,so while you may disagree, you seem to be greatly out numbered by all the guys in those crews.

oh yes, i am outnumbered,so much that i even had threatening call to my home 5 years ago when i spoke at school onhr.

we were also booed by the farmers and dcnr brownosers that came from elk county to stick up for the hr plan.

even 1 of our members that was to speak went outside like a little scared rat,he said,oh its all cut and dried,no i said, you are coward.[:@]
