Your area sure is bad with all those crews killing all the deer along the roads and mountain lions eating the rest.Funny thing. On saturday I hunted public dmap'dland22 miles from Renovo. That's close to you right?I passed an easy shot at a buck.I also saw another group of 8 deer that I couldn't get a shot at.Then at 10:45am,I snuck up on a bedded doe and killed her on the spot.As I drug her to my truck I saw tracks all over the place. When I got to my truck, there was a doe standing in a springbrowsing on some blackberry bushes.Guess what I didn't see?I didn't see any other hunters, any footprint,no crews driving and no large predator tracks.I founddeer where I expected to find them this time of year and I found alot of evidence that I missed alot more than I saw.In three days of hunting public land in 2G,I killed two doe and had to pass on three bucks.Supposedly 2G has the worst hunting in the state. If that's the case, thewhining I hear in totaly unwarranted because I just finsihed up one of the best seasons I've ever had.

lets make a little HUNT TOGETHER, you and me next year in that same dmap area 22 miles from renovo.
you can carry a gun and i will be only observing you seeing ALL THESE DEER.
22 miles would put you about around the PANTHER RUN RD AREA OF RT144.
i would ASSUME you may be in CENTRE COUNTY TOO.
you know i only am EXPERT in clinton/nor.potter/nor.cameron.
but i am GAME on trying another county,if indeed you are in CENTRE and not clinton county.

No need to expose me Sproul. My dmap kills are all reported.I'll tell you exactly where I was.As I gutted the last doe,I was looking right down on rt 872,not far from where it hits rt 120.In fact,I parked accross from the Sinnemahoning tavern.Deer all over the place up there and no hunters what so ever.I have a buddy who's family has a camp not far from the dam on 872.They hadfour hunters hunting the first day and killed two huge 8 pointers and a huge ten point, all on state forest land.
I'll gladly take you up there.Get in shape because it's some tough walking.

We will have a crew smack in the middle of the Sproul off the Keating/Pottersdale Rd area from Dec 26th til' Jan 1 flintlock hunting. We'll be staying in camp there, deer hunting during the day, coyotes/fox at night (Hope I don't see a Mt. Lion), some grouse mixed in for myself but I'll be sure to report back how we do.
Already 2 bucks down for the camp guys out of 4 who went up for the first 3 days of rifle season and I know we had deer running around like rats last flintlock season. We generally hunt all day everyday around the area and generally all we see hunter wise are guys putting around at 10mph in their trucks.
Also we had guys get a couple cracks at somenice bucks in the late season but unfortunately they ran out to the guys who can't shoot or had their guns misfire.
We have a ball and everybody who has a tag usually gets something or good opportunities at the very least. We put in the miles but we find the deer.

Doug, between hunting, habitat improvement, and cabin work that pretty much takes up my time.
The few times I get out on the mosh for turkey or grouse I see little or no deer sign. That's why I never go out there for deer.
The thing is I sure don't hunt grouse in the open woods. One spot we hit this year was so thick I could hardly get through.Had oak and maple saplings with plenty of briar.Cut just one deer track through there. That was weekend of bear.
I thought you killed the deer in mosh. The dmap in cameron is private land though right?

Matt, sounds like the "Good 'ole Days" for you are right now.
You guys must have a ball, and I am getting more interested in getting out there with my flinter. Maybe I will even get to camp in 2f where I know a couple bucks are.
Let us hope for dry conditions be it powdery snow or crunchy leaves.

Hey Doug, While Sproul is "verifying" your deer sighting success, get him to show you his cougar photos, his coyote kill on trailcam and while you're at is get a picture of that locust tree that impaled his truck and smashed his bassboat. Maybe you can get him to show you all those poachers in action too!

the area you are hunting is CAMERON COUNTY.
i am familiar with area.
i hunted the summerson/darrin land which is accross from bridge 30 years ago.
i grew up with those friends of our family.
when you mentioned DMAP area, i assumed you were in rt144 so towards snow shoe.
that area is all shot out.
now, for the area you are in, i cant comment as i dont know that area of CAMERON.
i do know area off the montour run rd of CAMERON and that is as far as i have info on hunting of deer/grouse in cameron.
still hard for me to believe you can go above the williows tavern and see deer like that when my good friend who is president of sportsmans club there says deer situation is bad.unless its near privateland.
his name is tim horner.
i will give you benefit of doubt , you got me on that one because i dont know what is there and dont hunt that far into cameron.
but i do fish there a lot and i see very few deer unless its near privateland.
