Can you explain why the PGC keeps lying to the hunters? They said the concurrent season was needed to insure that bad weather during a 3 day doe season didn't limit the harvest. Now they claim the length of the season doesn't effect the number of deer harvested. If that were true than there is no reason to limit the buck season to two weeks. We should be able to hunt for bucks with rifles from the Monday after Thanksgiving to the end of the late ML season.

Fivemiler, there are extremely few hunters in the woods after the first day.In fact, there's not many at all on the firts day compared to 10 years ago.The antlerless kill went up by 2000 deer but the allocation went up by 7000.The weather on the first day last year saved alot of deer.

BT,Do I feel they lied about the reasons for cutting the doe season back in those 4 WMU's?Absolutely.I think the fact that they're doing a study is legitimate but I firmly believe that the move was also political.

How can they do a study when they claim they don't know how manay deer we have or how many need to be harvested.

The are studying harvest trends. That's easy to do with the information they have.

But they aren't studying harvest trends, they are studying the effects of a reduced season. Since the number of tags required to harvest a deer increases as the herd is reduced , don't you think they need to know how much the herd has been reduced? Also, have you noticed the PGC is hiding the extent to which HR has occurred? Suddenly they don't want to talk about the benefits of HR, and BTW, those benefits never happened. didn't happen.

What's even crazier is that they already know what the effect of a shorter season will be. For many years we had a 3 day season and then in 2000 we had a 4 day season and fewer tags produced a much higher antlerless harvest of 302K. Then in 2001 they reduced the tags even more and went with the concurrent season and the antleress harvest drop 283K. Then they increased the tags to 1M+ and the harvest increased to 352K. So they have all the info they need and are just playing silly games to make some hunters believe that they care.

Am I wrong or can you still hunt does in 2G with dmaps?
Also I would think a unit like 2G would have less impact in season length because of the number of hunters who travel from the south.
On the other hand a unit like 5B has high populations of people who can hunt locally after or before work and kill does throughout the two weeks.
just a thought
germain, they are using the DMAPS out of DMAP areas.

i cant prove they did but 45 shots, no way that was a bucks in that area and i saw DMAP TAGS on deer cvoming off privateland.

they will say they shot them in dmap areas,no one is watching this and its being done on privateland, i feel.,[:@]

so far, everyone i talk too likes the doe delay for first 5 days.

they are HOPING no one shows up on saturday to kill doe so that leaves more for them.

but, i did not even see a deer here in clinton county ,so far.

i was surprised at number of hunters at camp this week, most left on wed.

most said they should have close doe for 2 weeks.

a LOT of hunters are coming back for sat.

they are coming in today already

i think this will also help the towns etc on business.

before, they would get their doe on monday or tuesday, then leave for year, now, they are coming back for saturday and spending their money AGAIN .

hunters i talk to love this, i bet i did not see more than 3 road hunters..

but watch on saturday, i will report on this, roads will be loaded with road hunters trying to fill their freezers.[:@]

So you want the hunters as long as they don't kill any deer.
