If the deer populations are not bad in these 2 WMUs as many claim. Why did they cut back the first week of no does? Anyone got the answer for this?

The official answer is that they wanted to study these four units to see how much an effect the season length was as compared to allocation numbers.

Am I wrong or can you still hunt does in 2G with dmaps?
Also I would think a unit like 2G would have less impact in season length because of the number of hunters who travel from the south.
On the other hand a unit like 5B has high populations of people who can hunt locally after or before work and kill does throughout the two weeks.

Yes,you can still hunt does with a dmap in any unit.

Your thoughts are most likely valid although alot of locals hunt 2G as well.On the other hand,pressure is ridiculously low in 2G.I hunted Moshannon state forest on Monday and saw two other hunters and never cut another boot track in the snow.

I thought that in order to conduct a valid experiment they had to include units of varying "quality". That includes ones with lots of deer(2D) and ones with few (2G). I spend a lot of time in 2D and find it tough to believe those who think that unit's deer population is low.

Your going to see deer harvests the lowest they ever been. I will put money on this.

You can give 1 million tags out and only three days of doe season and still have less deer killed in the 3 days than you would in the 2 weeks. It isn't that hard to figure out. 3days of killingto 2 weeks. They can't be that stupid can they be? Or maybe it's a cover up for when thoseWMUs fall thousands of deer short of last years numbers to justify the low harvest numbers.

Historically,the most deer are killed on the days when the most hunters where in the woods.The extra two weeks didn't do anything because there's very very little pressure after the first day in 2G.Not letting hunters harvest does on the first day will probably have an impact.

Last year the PGC claimed the antlerless harvest was down significantly the first two days but harvests later in the season made up for much of the decrease the first two days..

That was because of the unusually bad weather the first two days.

But I thought you just stated that nobody is in the woods after the first 2 days?
