Mountain lions in PA!
I have a friend that has seen a mountain lion neer my home in PA. I've heard other people saying that there are mountain lions in PA. But when he saw one I was sure of it. At the first the Game Commision denided that there where mountain lions around but now they're starting to admit it. Any feeling on this? Has anyone else seen a mountain lion in PA? If so please post it.

RE: Mountain lions in PA!
I am 150% certain that I saw a mountaine lion in PA about 5 years ago. I was spotting in next to the Alvin R. Bush dam and we saw eyes on a horizontal tree feet off the ground. After about two seconds it jumped down and calmly walked parrallel to the road. We got a great look at it...way to big to be a bobcat, and the 5 foot long swooping tail gave it away immediately. It was by far the most majestic animan I've ever seen in my life, when he walked it looked exactly like an african lion the way their shoulder blades move. THEY'RE IN PA.....TRUST ME

RE: Mountain lions in PA!
That's what I heard too. The tail and size gives them away. The same with the one that is around here.

RE: Mountain lions in PA!
Oh yea they are here alright, they simply must be because people say they saw one. But, unlike mountain lions in all other parts of the world the ones in Pennsylvaniahave really unique capabilities.
The lions in Pennsylvania can fly and that is the reason none have ever left a track in the snow or mud. The lions in Pennsylvania don’t ever have to eat either and that is why no one has ever found were a lion killed anything. And, since they don’t have to eat that also accounts for why they have never left any scat any where in this state for people to find. Why the mountain lions in Pennsylvania are so good not one has ever been captured on one of the hundreds of thousands of trail cameras scattered across the state. None have ever been caught in one of the hundreds of thousands of foot hold traps set in the state each year forever either. Not one has ever been shot in mistake for a deer during the deer season in spite of the fact they are the same color as a deer, yet hunters shoot other hunters in orange vests and hats in mistake for deer every year. But, the really interesting thing about the Pennsylvania mountain lions is their ability to burry their remains after they have died so that no one has ever found a dead one even though people have been reporting seeing them for more then the thirty plus year I have been getting the reports of mountain lions. I guess the mountain lions in Pennsylvania just never diesince no one has ever found a dead one or even the bones of dead one in over a hundred years. The fact is that a VERY high percentage of the people that see a bobcat in Pennsylvania believe they saw a mountain lion with a long tail because they actually saw the way the back leg of a bobcat extends behind it when it walks or runs. Go here, take a look at this cat and see why people think they saw a mountain lion. http://www.naturequestadventures.com/blog/ R.S. Bodenhorn |
RE: Mountain lions in PA!
That's an excellent example of PGC damage control. RSB is obviously well rehearsed in the "we can neither confirm nor deny" dialogue. Wonder sometimes if he drives a black suburban and wears a suit and sunglasses. My bet is he has during some point in his illustrious career, seen firsthand evidence, whether tracks, droppings, etc....and is following his instructed protocol. Well done. Imagine the uproar, if they were to admit they were confirmed, let alone that their being here had anything to do with the PGC. Obviously they feel the public can't handle the truth. Not that this is a surprise to anyone familiar with the deer fiasco. You can't keep a lid on a boiling pot forever. Eventuallly concrete evidence will surface, and they will be left stuttering and looking for a good coverup. Till then, expect to be severely ridiculed any time you post these things on a message board, esp one patrolled by the damage control specialists of the PGC. If it helps, I believe you. My own mother saw two inher yard. The charming deputies that showed up to investigate, could not find any "definitive" tracks on the frozen ground and tried to convince her that she saw two otters! She saw the plan as day right by the woodpile....knew darn well what they were. Only regret was that she went for the camera instead of the rifle. They were gone before she could get the picture. My advice to the next person who sees one is to shoot it on sight, and be sure you have lots of witnesses of the carcass, save some kind of DNA samples before the PGC confiscates the body, take lots of pics, and above all, better be able to sell a good "in self defense" alibi. We can blow this thing right out of the water.

RE: Mountain lions in PA!
My brother has lived in Wyoming for many years where thereis actually a breeding population of mountain lions. He is out riding horseback all day every day for a living and he has never seen a mountain lion. He has seen their tracks in the snow and that is all. Why are so many mountain lions spotted in PA?? Why are there no tracks in the snow?? Oh yeah, I forgot they can fly!

All they can do is claim there are literally 1000's of gov employees in on a massive "coverup". More "reports " of sightings come into NY and Pa then states where they exist. Steve |
RE: Mountain lions in PA!
Seriously? Is there something we can do to stop the mountain lion posts?

RE: Mountain lions in PA!
very soon i will have picture of possible COUGAR in the cameron county,pa. area near the BUCKTAIL TRAIL.from what i HEAR,its a good film of cougar.
i am working on it now. just tonight we have CONFIRMED sighting from hunters that were turkey hunting in the PETES RUN RD area of clinton county,pa.;)confirmed means, I TRUST THOSE HUNTERS WORD AS THEY ARE SEASONED HUNTERS. i saw cougar and know what i saw,;) no amish crap story in my houshold, only word of SPROUL that they do exist. 1 sighting in 47 years in woods,no wonder most deny they dont exist. it is odd, some DCNR employees saw cougar but not 1 game warden. that is hard for me to believe that all accross state ,NO WCO SAW A COUGAR. |
RE: Mountain lions in PA!
There must be a ton of them out there in PA with all these sightings. I was thinking about heading out west to Oregon for a hunt this winter. You guys have a season out in PA? It's a lot closer to home and it sounds like you have more.

could the moderators set it up so when you click on a "i saw a mountainlion/puma/cougar/black panther thread, Patsy Cline singing "crazy" comes on automatically?

RE: Mountain lions in PA!
So, since they don't exist in PA,it isn't against any law or regulation to kill one in PA, correct?

RE: Mountain lions in PA!
Just the other day I was in the woods in the Adirondacks and I saw a tiger take down a zebra and then get run off by a rhino who was then abducted by a ufo being piloted by Bigfoot. I guess I am the only one who seen this and I did not get any picsso no one believes me. You guys believe me though...right?

RE: Mountain lions in PA!
Well you guys are funny and all but TRUST ME I will be the first to laugh in your face...thats right I will e-mail you to figure out your address, come to your house, and laugh in your face, when proof finally surfaces of cougars in PA. I really don't get why guys are so ridiculouslyskeptical. One question....what do I stand to gain by making up my claim.
As for the gentleman who suggested I could have confused it with a bobcat.....last time I checked bobcats arent six feet long + A FOUR FOOT LONG SWOOPING TAIL. And I wouldn't be able to call myself an outdoorsman if I couldnt distinguish between the two when it's fifty yards off the road walking parallel for 15-20 seconds. See ya later |
RE: Mountain lions in PA!
I saw a whitetail deer in PA once.[8D][8D]
Unlike the mountain lion sightings, I have a plethora of proof to back up my claim. Come on guys, not a single picture, not a single carcass, not a single track, no scat, no hair, no kill scenes. You guys sight more big cats in PA than get sighted in Idaho and Montana combined! |
RE: Mountain lions in PA!
OMG.....Here it is, the first week of November, and THE CIRCUS IS IN TOWN AGAIN!!!!
That's just sooooooo special......and at this time of the year!!..... |

Come on guys, not a single picture, not a single carcass, not a single track, no scat, no hair, no kill scenes. You guys sight more big cats in PA than get sighted in Idaho and Montana combined! big c, too many local reports in my area ,CLINTON COUNTY,to not be TRUE. i saw one, real close too but that was 15 years ago. i agree with you, pictures/tracks are hard to come by and a cougar track is big. i have picture coming of possible COUGAR. i will be sending it to TRACKINCATS to be put on their site. i feel there are very few cougars in pa. but i feel they are here, well, i know they are here because ,i saw one. how much they range, i heard 100 miles then i heard 300 miles.do not know. funny thing is, once sighting is seen ,it seems to go cold after a year or so. then sighting start happenning many miles away, sighting start moving around from county to county. almost ALL sighting i have are usually in summer/fall,not one in winter. this is why i felt that cougars move to warmer areas in winter, i dont know, maybe thats why its hard to find tracks in snow. others will say they dont exist because of no tracks in snow found in large numbers. again, i cant answer that one also. but i can tell you ,i did see cougar, tail and all and i trust my friends over yearsthat saw them going to work on beech creek rd. if they said they saw one, they did and its no AMISH HOAX.;) |
RE: Mountain lions in PA!
Good point, all the mountain lions in Idaho and Montanna must migrate to Arizona for the winter.Tracks are not found during winter because we don't have mountain lions in this state.
|
RE: Mountain lions in PA!
I have proof of the mountain lion around my house. Next time a see a track I'll take a picture. Ok?

EVERY SIGHTING i hear about is usually in summer/fall,not in winter.NOT 1 SIGHTING I HAVE HEARD OF IN WINTER. i cant say WHY,i dont know. i do know when RELIABLE hunters , i know said they saw one,TAIL and all, i BELIEVE THEM. i saw one, that should be enough to say there are some. are they tame animals, i dont know, do they go back to owners after running in woods ,i dont know, are they wild, i dont know. what about the cougar shot by farmer in midstates. game commission investigated it and said,THEY DONT EXIST. the farmer shot the cougar the next week. this info is available and picture of cougar.;) i am last person that wants to see a cougar killed. i think they put excitement in woods and will bring in thousands of tourists. cougar attacks are far and few even in states where they are ,heck fox attacks are big thing now. |

this is clearfield county.. SCREACH PART ,i bet most think i am nut case:eek: telling the WCO at clfd that it looked ORANGISH in color, which he said its called TAWNY. but is all TRUTH and at 15 ft, i know what we saw.;) |
RE: Mountain lions in PA!
there was a cougar shot in chicago, ill.
they had blood from femalecougar , i believe in south dakota. they took blood from cougar killed in chicago and it MATCHED. SO, THEY FIGURE THAT THIS cougar COVERED over 930 miles in 9 months to chicago. this may answer why we see cougar in so many places here in pa ,they may be passing thru. i think if COUGAR stayed in area, we would have more pictures and sighting in certain area. i believe now, they are on move always from state to state. |
