You mean nobody can get permission to hunt in Westchester anymore!!! I'm able to have permission to hunt two places in northern Westchester (Somers area) and I saw some nice buck on my trail camera this summer. Sorry I can't help you out anymore than that.
What areas do you hunt?

I realize there are some big bucks in Westchester, but I got to tell you I could care less about ever hunting there. Hunting there is sort of like hunting in someones backyard. Not exactly a wilderness experience. You can arrow a deer and then have it die next to someones backyard swimming pool. I rather hunt an area that doesn't have the trophy potential but at least gets me away from civilization a bit. Westchester surely is NOT the place for that type of experience.

I cannot weigh in on recent data but I hunted Westchester Co 1994 -2000. It is clicky. We used to hunt 5-10 acre parcels. I always had to worry about deer crossing boundries. Securing property ismore challenging than the hunt itself.
With the deer densities it was not uncommon to see 50-60 deer/day and leave the woods with a quiver full of bent arrows. It was some of the most exciting huntingI have done to date. I think I only ate my tag one year. I got a nice 9 pointer that graces my wall. The ticks were real bad then. I imagine they have to be worse now. I nowchoose to hunt Steubin County with a gun. Although the deer are not as numerous as Westchester Co.the quality of the deerare as good as it gets in NY.
