Default Trail Cam Question

I'm going to be hunting in the Finger Lakes area this season. Is it too late to put a trail cam out or is it still a good idea?

Actually, it is still very early. In fact, it might be too early.

Bachelor groups are still defined. If you are looking purely for hunting/scouting info, you want to run the cams closer to the season. I'll pull my cameras the week before the season starts in areas where it requires me to be intrusive. That's where you get the real info, imo.

I like putting cams out now to see what kind of buck are around. And it's always cool to get some pics of fawns.

I didn't bother this year. I would get an occasional buck on cam, but mostly the same doe and fawns, or coons, or turkeys.
I never got a mature buck on camera but saw quite a few over the years in the same area, when hunting it.
Their patterns are widespread and tough to hit without major bait.
Some people have the luck, just not me.
