I live just nw of Syracuse in Phoenix. I hunt the Adirondacks not enough. I hunt mostly Phoenix,Baldwinsville and Tully. I bow, shotgun, rifle and muzzleloader hunt. I get out over 40 to 50 days in deer season most years. I am a bit of an addict!!
My biggest was was with a bow in a very burb area just outside the Syracuse city limits. 5.5 years old 7 point non typical dressed out 186 pounds so 230+ live.

That sure is a beauty 375LVR, those are the bucks I strive for every year. I have commited to nothing less that 140 class or bigger and it does pay off with proper management, granted I ate my bow tag last year although I missed a giant at 40 yards (killed a grape vine) butI did harvest a 178 B&C and a 138 B&C with Muzzlelaoder so the work time and effort will pay off in the end. I haven't taken any particularly big bucks myself (hopefully gonna change this season), but, I do see/video some real beauties every year. Here's a fewpics that I've found in my photobucket albumof the quality of deer that this state can produce if they're given the chance to mature. I have history with all these bucks, either videoing/seeing them during the summer. They were all taken within a few miles of my house over the past few seasonshere in NE Steuben County...
Couple of big boys I've videoed. Both may still be roaming the fields/woods of WMU 8P...
Buddies 187" 21-pt. Biggest buck I've ever seen alive on the hoof. Watched him for two years. Got some sweet velvet footage of him throughout July/August of '02...
Neighbors 163 3/8" net 11-pt...
Neighbor's 11-pt, 22" inside spread. Got several clips of velvet footage of him...
Neighbors 154" 10-pt. Also got a short piece of velvet footage of this guy...

No doubt you got the genetics, seeing is half the battle, learning how to consistantly take the brutes is the hardest part. I believe the key to my success is low impact, always no matter what come and leave with very little disturbance and scent contact, it keeps the great spots great. Good luck with the season.

Need some assistance. Do you know of anyone interested in a great hunting location?
My friend and I found this private piece of land 225 acres in Dutchess County and the landowner will let us hunt if we bring 8 guys to make it worth to her. She runs a bed and breakfast. She has not let someone hunt her land for 25 years bc she goes down south for the winter. We have done well filling the slots with friends and family but are looking to fill a couple more. Last year was the first year we hunted and the land is full of deer and turkey. At her request we put together the following:
NYS Turkey & Deer Hunts! Dutchess County, Town of Rhineback (Zone 3F) 90 miles from NYC. Bow and Shotgun Hunts on 225 acres of private land fully equipped with blinds, tree stands and atv. Only 4 sessions a year. Sessions filling up fast.
Only sessions and dates available:
Fall Turkey (Bow or Shotgun) 10/6 to 10/9 $380 per hunter
Early Bow (Deer or Turkey) 10/27 to 10/30 $380 per hunter
Gun (Deer) 11/17 to 11/20 $380 per hunter
Late Bow (Deer) 12/10/to 12/13 $380 per hunter
All hunts are 4 days 3 nights with breakfast and lodging included for $380 per hunter for the entire 4 days. Call Joe (646) 285-7495 or Brad (917) 859-0713
