Canuck33: We have worked pretty hard to get the properties able to support the deer herd and provide enough safe havens for the bucks to age. We don't enforce any antler restrictions, but do ask that hunters to look at the possibilities if you let bucks age. We manage the pressure on the deer, and encourage harvesting a Doe for the meat and let the younger bucks go. We don't have control of bordering properties, but by providing the sanctuaries for the deer, it minimizes the young bucks getting shot.
You have obviously embraced some of the same philosophys.178" is a brute in any state. A 138" is nothing to turn your head at either. You willing to eat a tag helps as well. Congratulations !!! I have filled many tags, then seen bigger bucks later in the season and kicked myself.
I think the myth that NY doesn't have big deer, has been dispelled. It was fun to see so many pictures of nice deer from all over NY.
All Bucks are trophies !!!! Counting the days down, seeing lots of nice bucks in velvet.

Southern tier by the unadilla racetrack in New Berlin gotten some nice bucks.
