Hey Saxman, i was at meade today. Was not deer hunting. was looking for a few squirrels but i got cold and just walked around.

Doug, lol, yeah. I do not work in the winter months. so i get out quite a bit. Probably more than i should.

No one has any theories on the freshscrape line i found? Think it could just be a buck marking territory? Or one looking for some last minute lovin'?

I wouldn't think too much of it. The day before I got my doe 1.5 weeks ago, my buddy and I put his stand out in the woods. Within 40 yards of my lock on were two rather large scrapes. I was rather surprised to see them, but just figured it was probably a younger buck making scrapes in January. I've never seen any rutting activity this late, but then again I also wouldn't be one to say that it never happens. So your woods aren't the only ones that are a little nutty. I'm hoping to get out some day this week after work and then next Monday. We'll see what goes down.

I should probably get out there at least one more time before it's over. I say that every year, but opt not to brave the cold with a bow after hunting in a few gun seasons (WV included).

If its who I think it is Mr. Longbeard, thats all he ever sees. Matter of fact he's lucky he sees that.
Kind of hard to see them, when you don't go in the woods. I'm going up this weekend, I'll let you know if I see anything.

I was in Greenridge yesterday and saw 3 fresh scrapes in the snow. All 3 had licking branches above them.
