Shot my first deer with a gun
#1
Opening day of shotgun season I shot my first deer with a gun, a nice sized doe.
Took her with 20 minutes of shooting light left at 50 yards with my 12 gauge Browning BPS. Used the lightfield sabot slug. She was facing directly at me and i was on the ground behind a dead tree that had blown down. Put the cross hairs on her chest between both shoulders and pulled the trigger. This gun slug combo put a hole the size of a softball in her chest.I could not beleive the damage it did. Upong dressing her out we found that itblew out half of herheart and one entire lung was just disinegrated. She went30 - 40yards and dropped in her tracks. I cant belive she even went that far.
So exciting.
Now i will try to harvest my first buck ever.
Anybody else in Long Island have any luck?

Yeah thank God. i would never take a head shot. I would never eventake a head on chestshot with a bow because I think the breast plate could create to much resistance and you could just wound the deer but with the 12 gauge shottyand those sabot slugsi felt very confident that a breast bone was not gonna stand a chance and it did not.
Thanks

Yeah,I mean honestly the site was pretty gruesome. There was chunks of flesh on the ground and treesat the spot where I shot her and the blood trail was insane. When i found her she was literally in a puddle of blood. I have no idea how she did not just drop.
It was almost disurbing but i loved every minute of it.
