i killed some huge bucks back in 70s in OLNEY,MD.
all taken with bear kodiack #50 recurve .
back then it was all farms in that area i hunted..
1 outing i had 16 bucks come below my stand after heavy rain.

i held out for huge 12 poiint that i never did get,he would not come near my stand until dark.
i bet he had 24 inch spread ,huge buck.

rest of bucks were all real nice,16/20 inch spreads and few spikes..

that was the best group of bucks i saw in my life on size of horns..

i had place all to myself,i could walk to my sisters house and eat, take nap etc..

this place is still there but much smaller, there is catholic home there for nuns etc and they still dont allow hunting on it..

when nuns saw me withhome made camo clothes and shoe polish on my face, their eyes with get big..
those nuns were real nice people, i bet all are gone to heaven now..
god bless them all........

because they are GODS creatures.............is not 1 of the ten commandments THOU SHALL NOT KILL?they believe in that........

just like when i see those little cub bears shot, i get sick and mad at hunters that shoot them..
i am bear hunter.

same with fawns that are shot, same feeling.........

we all have different views when it comes to killing a creature,i hunt and kill but i feel by letting cubl bears and fawns liveand no over killing deer in area i hunt, that i am somehow giving something back to guy up stairs that put these wonderful creatures here on earth..

nunsreally feel they are protecting GODS creatures......

"and man shall have dominion over the Earth and all it's creatures"
I'm paraphrasing, but you get the gist.
"shall not kill" was intended toward a fellow man, not animals.
I find that most ministers and priests have no objection to hunting and a surprising number hunt themselves. My uncle is an ordained minister and has done much hunting and packs a concealed weapon quite a bit.
I'm somewhat surprised at the nuns behavior on this one.

Exactly. We had a place in Howard Co (Catholic Monastery) that we lost due to some ass that goose hunted the place. It was lost due to the gunfire awakening the Priests' to be, not the hunting. We even had a Priest come up from Fl every year to gun hunt the deer gun season, he probably has soul rights to the place now.We only bow hunted the place but they voted on it and decided to have no hunting at all. But everyone of the Priest I talked to supported hunting but not on thetheir grounds thanks to some mindlessgoose hunters. They wanted their piece and quiet.

They didn't have just one word that described the taking of a life back then. When translated the word is not "kill" but "murder." The difference is murder is the killing of another HUMAN. The word "kill" is a general description. Why would God give them the command to not kill anything then turn around and be pleased with sacrifices?

Who is still seeing deer?

nuns or priests i know, are not against hunting also.
heck, 25 yrs ago priest used to hunt with our crew here.

he was priest for the lock haven state college then..
as for the situation at monastery at OLNEY,MD.

MD is a state that is behind PETA more than most.
my sister was arrested many times just for her dog getting loose in front yard, those people are not very friendly to hunters also.........

nunsat that location, i feel did not like seeing deer killed,i guess we can understand that even tho they are not against hunting.

like said, goose hunter ruined the area by being jerk as said above.

i feel the cub killing here in pa. could cause same thing in future for our hunting..

if you get chance. read the WILLIAMSPORT GAZZETTE on sundays..
a picture of that 40 pd white cub was put in paper..

the people went out in big numbers against the newspaper, they dont want to see pictures of cub in paper or fawn..
a lot of those that complained in editorial section ARE hunters too.

I AGREE ALSO..

i have no problem with full grown bear picture or adult doe,but to show 3 cublittle bears on bumper of truck with blood all over ,adults grinning on their BIG kill, guys, thats not right..

where is our diginity heading?

SO all nuns are vegetarians? And if not, tell them to have a talk with uncle Ted, he will tell them how that packaged meat got to their table.
