RE: Secondary rut heating up in PA
That's great to hear, Bob. I will be out this Saturday with Flintlock in hand. Maybe a few turns of the "can" will produce the nice 7 point we have seen numerous times. When it all comes down to it, I may end up passing on him anyway though. He's gonna grow a bigger set in a few months!

ORIGINAL: rybohunter That still gives me hope BT. For now I am only getting in an hour after work. Saturday I will be out in one of my normal spotshoping to see a shooter. Between the sparse cover and the attitude of the deer,I had to really work at it to get a shot without getting busted. And they didnt hang around with that confused look after the shot like they often do in early bow season. |

I'm hunting in 2b guys. If I wanted the meat I would have no problem wacking a doe here. Don't use me to prove either point. I still have meat left from last year!
I have nothing against doe hunting in general. Depends on the area. What I DO have a problem with is shooting buttons as antlerless, but we've been down that road before have we not? |

Gotta make a trip to Hazen sometime soon so I might make a side trip and may ventureon over to 2F where I have a DMAP and take the smoke pole for a walk. It's a property where there are still plenty of does around. |
RE: Secondary rut heating up in PA
true SPORTSMAN,good to hear we have few BUCK hunters left..... i saw little girl get doeon wednesday, her father said this was her first deer/first yearand next year,it must be buck.. thats way to raise a kid...... It's hard for some to comprehend the difference. I have always said that if you are hunting an area that holds very few deer, why in the world would you shoot the only doe you see all season? Go hunt a higher density area, right? Well, down here at home, you can shoot all you want pretty much. It really is a very complex issue. Very site specific. It is getting even harder to hunt the deer because of all the development going on. While you are hunting in the remaining woodlots, the deer are laying in peoples back yards. In gun season, the deer refuse to go in the woods, so the population actually grows if many does are not shot. |
