Default Change PA Bear Season

After all the posts I have read about hunters shooting cubs I personally think Pa needs to change the laws regarding bear baiting. If baiting were allowed hunters would be able to size up the bear and have time to take an adult bear. As it stands today we have 3 days of spot and shoot that results in sows being shot and their cubs are easy pickings.

You just can't make this stuff up. [:'(]47 pound cubs great trophy's. We don't have a thing to worry about from the anti's as long as we have true sportsmen like these loser's.[:@]

I think baiting should be allowed for the archery hunt I love to bow hunt but I’m not about to burn 2 vacation days to just sit in the woods. The way it is now to kill a bear with a bow is a very long shot. Maybe they should draw for a bear tag like they do for elk and allow baiting but I think this drawing should be for resident hunters only.

Unlike deer hunting and growing trophies, I think Bear hunting is PA is a sport of population control. A few years ago, I passed up a 40-50 pound bear traveling alone and later in the day while talking to a warden, he told me that I should have shot. The PGC wants to reduce the numbers and keep the population in check. Shoot all bears.

Maybe not what we hunters have in mind but we have ethics and we also are conservationists working for the good of all.

JMHO.

This isn't a case for baiting, it is one of commonsense. Something obviously these guys don't have. Shooting a sow and than picking off her cubs disgusts me. Its times like this I'm embarrased to say that I hunt. Sorry, just my opinion.

It's basically up to ethics. Many hunters are selective on the game they harvest and others just want to say they scored. Baiting will do one thing only, wipe out the who family, mom and allher cubs. These are the same caliber of hunter? that will shoot a doe that can bepacked out tied totheir treestand. Piss poor hunters..if you call this hunting.[:-]

They did nothing wrong that most of us prob wouldn't of done at a younger age. One animal is no different than another. No matter what it is. If people are emotional about what animals get killed, then it's time for you to hang your guns up and join peta. Animals are animals. Congrats to those boys though.
How many would tell their children not to shoot a yearling deer? How many would pass up a yearling because of it's age? How many would pass up a 6 point yearling buck here in Pa? Lets not say some animals deserve to live longer than others and should not be shot. Animals are animals.
