If someone shot at me, hell yes I would defend myself. I carry a CCW with me during bow season for this very reason.
Most states it's illegal to carry a firearm while hunting. I dout just because you have a CCW permit it would allow you. I hunted with a county swat teamleader for yearswhom was my next door neighbor and he would leave his weapon in the vehicle. Now this was 25 years ago and things might have changed but I would check into it if you haven't already.

Here you can carry a handgun as long as you do not use it to displace a deer while bow hunting.

I hunt in WV and Ohio and both states say it is legal to carry your CCW for personal protection and may not be used to harvest game, the gun must be concealed at all times as well. I only hunt in these two states and I always carry my CCW, I feel naked without it.

WhenI lived in Maine I always carried, you never know who you are going to run into. One time I was scouting for deer stand spots and walked into bunch of pot plants! It is strange hunting in WI now and not having a CCW. You cant get one in this state.

a head shot , that guy was intending to kill the you guy . there's no doubt in my mind about that , especially since he yelled before being fired on , and two shots to the head to boot.
i hope the young man fully recovers , and yes , please keep us updated on this situation .

from what I have heardthey have still not found the shooters and it looks like th victim will now be totally blind from this.

They may be looking to hold as fundraiser soon for him. He has insurance, but I guess theer are a lot of things the insurance isnt covering ad thebills are comingin. Also not sure how long he will have insurance if he is not working due to this.
