Default MD Rut start?

Hey guys,

Heading to MD this wknd. My brother owns 88 acres in Montgomery, and I havent had a chance to scout much he has and has seen several nice bucks. Has anyone had a chance to do any rattling or calling? Are the bucks starting to chaise and fight yet? They are just beginning to show a lil agression in PA, but not full swing. Any help or experiences so far would help. Dont wanna get to agressive in the hunt if they arent responding yet.

Thanks

It's too early to get too aggressive in MD yet. Some light tickling on the horns can work, but nothing intense. They won't start chasing and fighting for another 3 weeks yet.

Well.... they are definately not even close to rut in mont. Had a nice hunt, my brother got his first deer ever, shot a piebald doe, he just startd hunting 3 years ago and is learning quickly. He's trying to play catch up to dad and i. Both been hunting since we were lil kids. However I did see a ton of deer, few spikes and one nice 8. Probably about 20 doe, but nothing in range, all just outside 70-80 yards. Tried grunting and the can to see if i could interest the bucks, nothing. Just looked in my direction and went about thier business. But all in all I had an enjoyable hunt in MD, was nice to see him get his first, and watch him clean it etc. Seen a ton of wildlife, from coyote to foxes, to the tree next to me had a family of coons living in it all hollowed out. pretty neat stuff. I wil be visiting again, hopefully closer to the rut.

Would not have believed it if I had not seen it but I saw 2 bucks sparring and yet another with his nose so far up a doe I thought he did not have a nose.

What area of MD are you hunting Scrap? You know I seen two little 4pointers fighting last week befoe I went to MD, and another pushing a doe around. And thought it was quite early, but havent seen any of the such since. That is why I had asked about MD. But when I was in Mont. this past wknd I couldnt get them to do anything. Tickled a bag a lil, some soft grunts the can nothing, they all looked at me and went on eating and staying just out of range.
