Is it legal to carry a firearm with a round in the chamber?

i heard in long island ny you can and in the city limits you can't i don't know anymore so amny rules i gave up i just keep my shot guns handy

if you have a carry permit you can carry it loaded. I guess it recently changed that you can have it loaded in your vehicle also.

well, as far as I know on Long Island and in the city limits. At no time can you have a load gun unless you have a carry permit for that area. A target permit.. I don't think you can have it load on you either. it has to be in some kinda lock box to and from the RANGE. But in NYC.. they have a strict policy about no guns at all.. not even rifles or shots guns.. without a NYC permit from the police dept. And trying to get that isn't that hard, but alot of paper work and you have to have the gun inspected(as of last of this summer). But def. no driving in the car with a rifle and have 1 in the chamber. otherwise your cuffed. even if it's in your trunk and locked up !

Look at section 400 of the penal law regaurding pistol permits. If you have a restricted permit you can still carry but take a chance of having your permit revoked if caught. There is no charge if you are caught carrying a gun on your permit. I have asked several cops who say just carry. They said if they weren't cops they would carry so how can they blame anyone else.
