You just had to ask didn't ya?
Welp this doe came running in full tilt with the big boy running hind hoof.So they go below me and I see them stop behind on old big Y tree.By now I put the scope on them catching their back halves with only their heads out the other side of the tree.Low and behold the old boy was knockin one off in the middle of rifle season.I got a smile on my face {looked like the joker}figuring when he gets done he'll be one tired puppy and present a good shot.So I'm waiting while he does his thing.Eventually the doe stepped out in front of the tree walking slowly while I scoped her waiting for the buck to follow,...and I waited..and waited.
No buck.I'm thinking oh chit!I started scanning the woods and he was gone.Bugger slipped out the back door and left me looking like well an idiot.I learned something that day. When a buck takes a poke {from the movie lonesome dove}he sends her packin and heads out the back door.

Jan 4th, just an hour or so ago I was standing in my yard when I heard what I thought was grunting. Puzzled I looked around and here walked a buck about 45 yds away, grunting like it was nov 4th.
