At 72 the guy may not have been fast, but we dint know do we? We don't know if the nearest WCO was at the donut shop or on the other end of the county do we? We don't know if the local police or state police were called or if they were close enough to respond in time if called. Assuming the closest WCO was too far away, are you suggesting that the PGC office should have sent a secretary or otherwise unquakified desk jockey down the hillto confront an armed individual whose judgement and regard for the safety of other was obviously way out of whack?

My point is simply that you don't know enough to make the type of criticism you made.
What I'm saying is If a crazed old man can blaze away with a high powered rifle in a town that has the North west P.G.C.Office, City police & state police. Load up a bear and drive away unscathed there just might be a law enforcement problem in that area.
Have you ever called that office ? I have on many occasions. I have I gotten a response ? Some times. The place is a joke!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't see this as a real eye opener then you are as blind as those that refuse to fix the P.G.C. They get no respect because they earn none & this is a blatant example of incompetence in their back yard.

There exists the possibility that you might indeed be right. But my point is that you are making assumptions that you have no right to make. When someone makes a habit of going off without all the facts, people tend to ignor their ranting. If that person someday comes up with a valid point, he tends to getignored based on past experience. It's OK to raise questions. you have a legitimate one, butits not OK to make up your own answers.

I can see Barney running down the street trying to get his bullet out of his pocket and Gomer right behind him yelling " citizens arrest citizens arrest "

You have to admit it must of been pretty funny to watch & they were real lucky no one got shot!

No offense, but you guys are getting way off subject. This story making the Associated Press is a complete black eye for hunters everywhere, which this guy is obviously NOT! I can not believe he only got away w/ a small fine. In my book, the penalty should have includedloss oflicense for LIFE,Confiscated his vehicle, cross-bow, rifle, and huntingequipment w/ him, and facedjail-time. And the fact that he claims it was caused by "Buck Fever",is a slap in the face to all hunters.
What he did is called poaching to the worst degree, it was not hunting. He saw his prey, in an area whichwas clearly off-limits. He thenpremeditatedly drove home, andpicked up hisguns, and cross-bows. The cross-bowwas obviously used to be stealthy, and then he got greedy. His actions were extremely dangerous. This should be a poster childcase for PGC to hang this guy out to dry to teach a point that this kind of behavior is not tolerated. Ifear thathis actions, andnow the lack of punishment will encourage others to do likewise, as there is little repercussion for these illegal actions.

Some how I'm not thinking this will draw allot of copycat offenders. That is unless more bears seek out down town hideaways during the three day bear season when most Elmer Fudd types are out stalking Bo Bo'slarger than lifefriend yogi.

BT are you some sort of GC employee or just a wannabe one?
Anyone who knows squat about trying to call in a violation here in Pa knows it is more effort than what it is worth. Place the call, wait to be called back, drive to a meeting place cause the WCO can't as much as find the street you live on,take them to the scene, etc. etc...then after spending a half day doing what is their job in the first place within 5 minutes of reaching the scene heard the WCO exclaim..." too much time has elapsed since the crime, nothing I can do".
Those Bozos I've dealt with were so unfit they rarely get out of their truck and when they do even more rarely do they make it more than 100yds off a road.

The board software must be malfunctioning. The ignore lists aren't working properly.
