Default NY Baiting legal, or illegal?

Is it illegal to bait deer in NY with feed products. If so then why do the local pro shops sell products such as cmere deer (The product endorsed by Hank Parker) as well as other food baiting products. I know that salt is illegal but what about food?

Thanks

I wonder the same thing every time I walk into Gander Mountain and Dick's.

You get caught baiting in ny that will be that last time you hunt. The DEC is pretty harsh when it comes to baiting. I actually had this conversation with a local DEC official. Even if you find someone else's bait pile and hunt over it, you will charged.

What kind of a question is that? Hmmm,....What's the point of putting out corn? If you're planning to hunt over it, it's bait. If you need to think of waysto justify what you're doing, and ways to convince the wardens that you're not baiting then you probably are.

If you don't know what baiting is either read the book (comes with the license)that explains all the rules, or call the NY DEC and ask.
