You could put out the corn, But you can't hunt around it
Wrong here - since CWD showed up, it has been illegal to supplementary feed.

Another point - these questions are all answered very clearly in the regulations book EVERY hunter receives each year with their licence.

It is your duty and responsibility to know these things and be aware of changes.

But of course we all knew that.

Unfortunately baiting runs rampid on Long Island. DEC has their hands full trying to catch the cheaters and it hurts all ethical hunters. I hate baiters!!

I know of a guy that showed up at a local coffee house showing pictures from his game cam of a nice 8 point, only problem was that you could see the automatic feeder hanging overhead. A week later DEC showed up at his farm and found the feeder. I don't know if they charged him, but they did take his feeder.
Be careful of who you show your pictures to if you are using bait to attract deer to your camera.

O.K. now, what about this.A local friend of mine feeds his cows corn or silage in outdoor troughs,Always had a bunch of turkeys show up after cows get done feeding.Didn't mind them, has a few nice photos of them.Just after the season started had a doe and a couple fawns showing up.Then a few more deer showed up.Well last weekend siad he feed the cows and the deer showed up.There was a couple bucks in the group. My friend finally had enough, and went out to scare them off and shot one of the bucks.Well guess what just after he shot the local encon officer showed up,claimed he was hunting over bait and took his deer and gun away.Goes to court tonight at 7:00 to answer to charges. Now here is my question? When was it a bait pile and when was it feed for his cows. The troughs have been there for at least 10 years and this is the 1st time deer have been a problem.

IMHO When he shot the buck it became bait, as the buck would not have been there if not for the corn that the farmer put out. Just scareing the deer away would have been fine, but when he shot one it changes.
