Day One Jan. Meetings PGC
This meeting had 56 speakers. Many of them were people from farm and forestry fields that spoke of deer damage and appreciation for the direction the PGC has taken in the last two years. Only a few did not address deer management.
It broke down like this:
1. 56 Speakers
2. 36 Pro-Alt
3. 5 Anti-Alt
4. 8 Anti-crossbow
5. 3 Pro-crossbow
6. 3 favored in-lines in October
7. One wanted turkey hunting during all of archery
8. One wanted bear archery season
9. 2 supported a spring turkey license

First Mark, thanks for posting the info.
Wow, i gues the Alt haters and crossbow lover are a definite minority. A noisy one but a minority none the less. I'd be willing to bet the 3, or most of em, pro crossbow speakers were put there by the manufacturers.

Lucky guess.
One was the rep. for Horton crossbows. John Galida. He use to own a nice hunting/fishing shop at Moraine State Park. The other two were officers in the Pa. Crossbow Association. It is mostly about target crossbow shooting. No "just hunters" spoke in their favor.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering how the meeting went. Also I wonder who is actually invited to speak it sounds like not too many against what they want to see happen at the meetings.I would be more interested in Alt's public meetings on how the average hunters fill when all the proposals are set.I will be attending the one in feb. in my area.

I definitely didn't expect to see it that one-sided. <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> It will be interesting to see how today and tomorrow pan out.

Me either.
All of the 36 pro-Alt speakers supported AR's. They didn't just say they supported Alt. They ticked off the three big items. They said they supported the 2 week concurrent season, they supported the pre-rut harvest of does(with one exception) and they supported AR's. Most started by thanking the PGC for the actions they have taken in the last two years.
You guys that got copies of the tape from the meeting watch it and share it at your clubs. I will ask about getting it on the PGC web site.

I think you have to take into consideration how many average hunters can take off work and travel to Harrisburg to speak for 5 minutes.Like you said most people were from some orginization involved in farm and forestry fields and could afford to send someone in their behalf.Just like the people for the crossbows they have a stake in it.I will wait to go to Alt's public meetings and get 5 minutes talking time when all proposals are on the table.I figure 56 people do not make up the majority of hunters in Pa.
