Default Peanut Butter bait

What the best way to use peanut butter for attracting deer. We'd like to get them closer to our cabin and arent' sure how to use it. It's illegal this month but would like to get ideas for next month and the spring.

Nail the top of the peanut butter jar onto a tree about 3-4' high. Cut the bottom out of the peanut butter jar and screw the jar onto the lid that's nailed on the tree.

At camp in PA we have a peanut butter tree. We take a food bag reach into jar and smear it all over the tree, the bears have scratched the tree licking and pawing the peanut butter. We put it too high for deer.
