Default Dog Training

I tried this in the sporting dog section, but had no luck. I was wondering if anyone knew someone who trains bird dogs in western New York. I just bought a Brittany and i am not to familiar with hunting birds.

JonnyNov,

Congrats on your Brittany. I have an 11 month old male. I live in the Buffalo area and have been spending a lot of time at a local hunting preserve in Darien Center, Ringneck Hunting Preserve, www.ringneckhunting.com. My intreaset is primaraly pheasants so this worked out well for me. Gene and peggy at Ringneck have a trainer that will work with your dog in the summer months or you can make arrangements with him on your own. I know Darien Center is a bit of a haul for you but these people are truly first class. If you give them a call I am sure they can turn you on to someone closer to you.

Good luck.

Joe

Good luck with your Brittany, I have a 5 month old that I'll be starting now. There's a very good trainer in Byron, NY named Al Burkhart. I'll get his number and send it to you. Also try joining the Finger lakes NAVHDA Chapter, they'll help you get your dog started and show you what to do.

Believe me he knows what he's doing. He's passed many dogs, his own and others in Navhda and akc. Tell him Frank from Hudson Valley Chapter sent you and I will be calling him for my own Brittany.
