Buck Chasing Does in Southern NY
#11
A friend of my cousin's is giving me a shot at his firearms season stand next week. He tells me he saw two decent bucks sparring there last week and the week before, same 2 bucks. Can't wait to hit that spot. I think he is letting me do it because he wants to be convinced by someone to get into bowhunting. He's been toying with the idea for a few years he tells me. This is all in Orange County.

Close to 25 hrs on stand still have yet to see a deer let alone anything chasing something. I take that back I've been chasing my tail for the last three days

My brother called me this evening. He arrowed a 7pt DMU 7M, said the buck was chasing 3 doe around the woods like crazy, and finally stopped close enough for a perfect shot.
We hunt all wooded area, no farmers fields around. Our piece is surrounded by state woods that see's heavy pressure during Reg. season. We've never seen chasing this early. Heck I was just there past wknd, and only found 2 scrapes in typical scraping spots, and saw no buck rubs. This is definitly a first to be running around this early, we usually stick to food spots until Nov, before setup on buck travel routes.
