Bear Town state forest is loaded... October Mountain is pretty good too. Nice big, thick country. Lots of big boars roaming around up there. Find some wild berries and some water. I have always had luck near beaver ponds. The will be traveling from feeding areas to the water continuously. Try some attactant scents as well. Usually takes a couple of days for them to be drawn in though.

Anywhere off of Brace Road in Tyringham is good bear country.

Saw a little one (around 130lb) last night by October Mountain.

Lots of bear everywhere. Hamden County has lots. We have 4-5 bear behind our camp there.

However, the thickest population has always been in the mountins of Florida/Monroe MA. The upper Deerfield River valley. Watch the berries in the evenings/early AM.

I still hunt them, but that is very hard and I have had no success. Most guys stand hunt over natural food, as its the best way to bag one in MAby legal means. Beechnuts are a bear favorite...

I want to apologize to Mike Hill, Jamiebuck and Western Ma hunter for taking so long to reply to you, I have been out of town for a week. It also looks like I have been out of the Berkshires for a heck of a lot longer. It is great to hear that hunting opportunities are now better in Mass than I could have ever dreamed of. In fact, it sounds like the hunting isbetter in Mass than it is in California. I might go back to do some hunting in the Berkshires. I still have my FID issued in 1968.

cali, dont use that old fid card ,that dont accept them anymore, in the old days fid was good for life , now with ma. strict gun laws they have to be renewed every 5 years,i thing its 100.00, to i know it for my pistl permit, if you have a old cali fid ,you might be able to just do a change of address, and have another background check,if not you might have to take a nra certifed gn class unless you already taken one, know in ma. to they want you to take a hunters safty class unless you have a old huntinglicense.I belive they have all the info on ma.fish and wildlife site, hope this helps you
