Well i just saw something strange. i saw 2 fawns with their mother. they looked like they were just born. they were so small and had spots. the body even looked redish like in the summer. i never saw fawns this small this late in the year.
does anyone know when is the latest month they can be born in?
and by the way there was a HUGE 10 pointer right with the mother. he's wasting no time i guess.

Fawns of the year can reach sexual maturity at 6 months. Sometimes these fawns may go into estrus very late, even as late as February, thus resulting in late summer-time births during the months of August or early September. Other times, although it's quite rare, adult does may not get impregnated for several estrus cycles thereby also resulting in late season births.

this must be tough on the fawns to survive the winter. they have a thin coat and no body fat. stealthy...i know you live in Glen Gardner. i saw these fawns up at Hagedorn. maybe you have seen them.
