Thanks for the article Oldsnow. Very interesting information. Did anyone go to the meeting? I hunted last night and was too tired to attend.
How are you suppose to know if a doe is pregnant unless its showing? Give it an EPT test?
Seriously, should we just bring does to the stations and let the DNREC boys check it out.
I wish I could have attended the meeting. Im curious to see where the "hot spots" are and what they propose. They make it sound like the state is being overrun by deer. I guess we'll have to wait and see what they come up with.

The story I read in the Postthis morningwas hunters were to bring all deer to one of 6 check in stations in the three countys and they would pull jaw bones check fetus's and remove the brainto check for disese. If you want the deer they will give it back to you after all that or you can donate it to some organinaztion. They might add a few days to the season also. Air servey was to be completed by Dec 15 or 25th, can't rememberto pick out the over populated areas.

AJ, I think the Tue meeting in Dover is about a couple miles from me at best. If I can get Rom to tag along with me I'd like to make it. If I can't get him to go maybe I can hook up with you guys.

This story was on KYW news radio all day Saturday. They kept throwing in the point that 'Animal Rights' people were against the plan. I was like "no! its the hunters against the plan jerk offs'.
My biggest concern is that we wont be able to provide the 600 Does they want. I've found that come January, interest dies down alot. Thats alot of deer to get to check stations that late in the season. Even if they give us another week or so in Feb, I think it will be tought to come up with that number. I of course, will do what I can to help.
If anyone gets to the Dover meeting, please ask what they need the fetus for to determine a mgmt plan. I would assume the number of fetus per deer is the motive, but clarification would be nice. The brain tissue is obiviously a CWD test.
