Where was that deer taken Bio? (County)
Albeit warm, the wind is good this afternoon so I'm heading down. If I see amything, it'll probably be the last hour of the day. Should be a nice sit though. |
RE: DE Shotgun Season Opener
Nothing tonight. Saw a buck chasing a doe around 3:40 and 3 more deer right at sunset but they were a long ways off to the north. No shooting on the surrounding farms. Did hear some shots on the public land though around 4:30.

RE: DE Shotgun Season Opener
My buddy called me at 2:30pm on Tues to say he just shot a ******* monster buck that was bedded with a huge doe.He was just a bit excited and hyperventilating while talking on cell phone.
A 13pt piebald,22 1/2"spread,dressed 190.Long body deer with patches of white on legs, shoulders, hind 1/4.I will try to post pics He is the largest rack shot to date on this farm and probably anywhere close for some yrs.He shot his deer not 100yrds from where I took my 7pnt opening day/evening which BTW was bedded not 50yrds from his stand. Aged by Delaware biologist at 4.5yrs.They told him they would mail a report on genetic background etc... Not only did he score with a trophy rack but one with obvious piebald traits.A once in a life time buck for sure! This makes the 2nd piebald shot on our farm in 8 yrs. 1st was a perfect basket 8pnt.That piebald buck was a real retard lookin mess. He and I made a set up for 3 stands on Sunday to pull deer from adjacent 600 acre farm. It worked! We have a another "Bullwinkle" on or around farm that I got trail cam pic about 3 weeks ago. He's 7-8-9pnt(?) with huge main beam.Well over 200lbs++ and looks to be at least 3.5 - 4.5. |

RE: DE Shotgun Season Opener
Nothing tonight. The boy of the guy I lease the field from shot 2 small deer at sunset. He broke a 7 year drought so I dont feel as bad. Fair amount of shooting around dispite the wind. My father is going tomorrow and we'll both go out Saturday morning.

RE: DE Shotgun Season Opener
anyone know about a 20 pointer that was taken out of lums pond? I was at black bear when I heard about it. Is someone pulling my chain?
|
RE: DE Shotgun Season Opener
Yep - the guy shot 20pnt a 6pnt and 2 does at Lums.Estimated weight was 180-190.OS spread was 24".7-8 pnts broken/damaged from early season fights and rubbing.
It was taken in area D which just opened for hunting last year.Between pond and Buck Jersey Rd,above the old swimming area.I have 2 pictures but having trouble posting. |
RE: DE Shotgun Season Opener
Hunted today from sun up to 1pm. Saw a couple a ways off at 9:30 and that was all. No one else was out at any of the surrounding farms. Looks like people were more interested in preparing for geese on Monday.
So thus ends Nov shotgun. At least I finally have some meat in the freezer. Time to give the land a break hunting wise. I'll keep the bait piles fresh and hope for some cold weather (aka snow) in the weeks to come. |
