I don't want to see better racked deer.I see them on tv enough.I just want to see one so I can shoot it and eat it. If want big racked deer then joina club that has leased property and are working on that goal. The only thing pgc wants is for you to believe that's what the goal is.Actually it's about selling out doe tags galore and putting money in someones pocket and useing the big rack program as a smoke screen for the diminishing deer herd.

I would like to know....from each Pa hunter who has posted negativly about the game department, have you reported every deer you have taken over the years? If not, consider yourself part of the problem....
I haven't posted negatively or positively on this matter, but I'll say that EVERY deer I've ever taken in Penn's Woods I filled out my harvest tags and sent them immediately. That said, I went to hear Dr Alt speak at one of the High Schools a few years back and he made alot of sense. He also stated that he was knowingly putting his neck out on the line, not because he was the New Deer Guy in Pa, but because he predicted that change would not be a very welcome alternative to Pa hunters.Especially the old timers(which is probably 75% of Pa's hunters). When I left that meeting I said to myself I would not pass judgement until atleast 5 years into their plan, so I won't yet. He was right about one thing for sure. Pa hunters drove him out within 2 years. People hated him for what he was doing. Threatened his life! What a Shame! Is that what hunters in Pa have become? Do we actually get involved and get all the facts before posting wild comments on a public hunting forum. Or are we like some others have said, 5 day a year hunters who were spoiled all those years by being able to pull off a side road, walk 100 yards into the woods and kill a spike or doeand go home for another year? I am one of those hunters who have seen a large reduction in doe sightings, but a vast improvement in the number of bucks. I will wait a few more years before I get out my picket signs. I will say that by listening to other hunters and reading some of what people are writing here about doe numbers is kinda scary, it can get you wondering which side is right which side is wrong? Try not to beleive everything you read. Let the experts do their job a little longer. Then pass judgment!

What actually is a shame is that people have to work longer and harder hours to live today then they had to back in the 50s 60 70s.They go to work everyday to support their family and to make ends meat.Hunting season comes around and they plan on going out and seeing deer on that first day.Guess what none there. So,You got this person who has a full time job and he can't miss work to take off and go hunting,The only days he has to hunt is saturday now. That's a 3 day hunter. You think it's allright to disrespect a person and slander him if he gets out only 5 times or less a year cause of his work. You think everyone lives on a farm or within 10 minutes of a hunting land?Or did you all forget the days get shorter during the reg small and big game season. These people buy their hunting priv same as everyone else and want to see deer and harvest one if possible even if its a spike.Any size deer is a trophy to someone and just seeing lots of deer lifts the spirit. When you don't see anything the spirit shrinks and the mind wonders what are they doing to my american heritage to go out and forage food just so they can have bigger racks and put money in someones pocket.Like I wrote above it's a political agender to increase their income and blow smoke up your asses at the cost of the doe population getting wiped out.Where is all that money going from the doe sales?Don't tell me deer management there's no deer to manage.Show me the new hunting lands they bought with that money. All I see is posted lands. It's all B.S my friends.

Actually there is only 1.4 million acres of PGC land in Pa. So if you look at the sales of all tags that have been sold that is not a whole lot of land. I look at it as if anybody purchases a tag to hunt they have the same right and say as everyone else that does,Even if they hunt only 1 day a year.
They sold over a million tags for doe last year alone. There is not over 800,000 deer in Pa. This year they sold 860,00 doe tags.Bigger bucks maybe but 90% of themare goanna be gay. There isno way goanna be enough doe for them to breed with and produce bigger bucks. Next year sale another 850,000, Doe season comes and wipe out the yearlings again. They are goanna totally wipe out the deer population all together.I would advise people who own large acres of land to post it.You are the only people who are goanna actually keep the deer from becomming terminated.I didn't purchase a doe tag last year or this year and doubt I will till the herd increases,I am not goanna give my hard earned money to help eliminate the doe population. That would just make me part of the problem.Cospiracy does happen,Sometimes the blinded can't see beyound the light.

First off forget about the deer numbers going up on state forest land-it aint happening!Even in areas below 10 DPSM they want the herd even lower. This is a no win situation for people hunting in those areas so give it up and find somewhere else to hunt deer. They'll keep those numbers low one way or another whether it be birth control or other methods. The only answer to this is to get Rendell out so he can take his side kick with him. Then people have to get elected that recognize deer hunting as recreation and know that deer hunters use the state forests more then any other recreational group.Along with tourism we spend more on the local economies then skiiers, atv users, hikers, and bird watchers. You know I have yet to see a bird watcher in the state forest.
I'm not saying back to the 50DPSM days but about 25 could create good hunting along with regen of the habitat.State forests were put aside for timber and recreation. But right now it's being managed for timber only, hence letting cherry trees stand in clearcutting and very few oaks.
Now let's get off the DCNR and their special interest agenda.
You guys that hunt private land need to get the landowners and hunters together and not shoot the doe for a year or two. Then go back to just one deer per hunter. If you can't handle that you shouldn't complain. It's been a long long time since I popped adoe.

Maybe some of you should apply for openings at the PGC,you are all experts. Then you can change the way things are done, instead of complaining on a public hunting forum. A previous poster said he only wanted to kill a deer and eat it. That kind of mindset is what we are talking about. Walk into the woods, shoot a deer and their done for another year. Save your money and buy a cow and eat that.

Howdy BT,long time no see.I saw somewhere on a post you got a buck.Congrats bud!
Didn't get a buck in archery. There were a few around in the different areas I hunted but must have stayed nocturnal. No luck in the rut either.
Got to see a bobcat sneak by under my stand so that was a good day.
Turkey everywhere up until turkey season then they all flew the coop.
Go figure,Ithink I'm under a curse right now.Not too long ago I was bagging bucks and gobblers every year but the last couple of years it's been tough.
Didn't get out for bear this year because I just had too many things to do at home.
