my first gut pile of the season
yeah some gomer every year likes to gut and leave the entrails right at the entrance to a field i hunt. i mean it has to be done on purpose because theres room for about 4 vehicles to park and only one path over the mound onto the trail to get into the field. they must be some real stupid hunters to gut a deer in the sandy parking lot. first they had to drag all that weight and second i hope they love the wholesome GRITTY TASTE OF SAND IN THERE VENISION. WHAT A LOOSER[>:]

on a brighter note i had 7 deer under my stand till dark. 4 of them were buttons.i thought that was neat and strange as well. also one old doe and 2 small fawns. i had to throw my quiver to the ground and hoot like an owl to get out of the stand.

I've found gutpiles around where I park on the gamelands also. The local warden says that it's probably road hunters/poachers who can't field dress their quarry at the scene of the kill - so they take it to a remote location, dump it off, gut it and load it back up. Just a thought.

RE: my first gut pile of the season
it wasnt off to the side. it was right in front of the trail surely done on purpose. most gut piles in my area dont last more than a week. the turkey vultures ,fox, and coyotes will get them all cleaned up. this was a state managed game field and could have easily been gutted back off the field or along the 100yard long car size road that enters the field. there is a dirt hill that is in place in front of this trail with a small path that cuts over the hill. the guts were left in front of this trail. i have seen and shot deer near gut piles. i dont think it bothers them much. its like peeing near your stand. it doesnt matter as much as you think YMMV.
