Lower DMP tag #'s in NY = more scouting and practice
I've talked with many hunters who are putting in more time this year scouting and practice (target) shooting than compared to last. I hadn't thought about it previously, but I think the lesser tag numbers may have instilled a hunt harder/smarter/better philosophy.
We might see an increase in harvest strictly based on that. Although we would never be able to measure it in some form. I think it might be a possible explanation to the heavier than normal pre-season routine.

If your a seasoned hunter I think that it all boils down to habitat and luck.
If the deer are there your chances go up. If the buck comes down the right logging road than your luck goes up.
