In A recent newspaper article Alt stated :I don't know how many deer are in PA.A 1.6million deer population mistake. So if he didn't know what the heck was the PGC paying him for and how can this deer management and numbers inreference to H/R and A/R have any factual base.

AR worked great. HR has problems though. I hunt in Berks County 4C public lands and the herd has been sharply reduced. Been there 15 years and for the first 12 only saw 2 racks bigger than small y-bucks. Nice 10 and heavy mass 8. After AR I immediately saw bigger deer and racks. Last year in 50 hours of archery I saw 8 deer. 5 bucks 3 does and shot the biggest(9 pointer 17 inch)of the 5 in November. I used to see lots of deer and mostly all doe. 8 deer in 50 hours is very painful.

I dont have to follow that 3points to one side rule cuz i still have a junior liscence, but this knew rule i dont think is goin to last to long. We dont have a lot of deer that big its mostly 2 on one side 3 on the other that i seen taken. I dont think were gonna have those big texas bucks here...turkey did come back though.

i can't believe how fast people forget. we have alway had tons of 8-10's- 12's andand sometimes the14's and bigger. now we have less bucks to hunt with pretty much the same amount of hunters. someone has to explainhow this canbe a success story. and if you don't think that H/R hurt your buck population. someone better explain to you about the birds and the bees. without the does to reproduce where do you think the next generation of bucks are coming from.

and how do you think that i came up with the lower numbers. it is called S-C-O-U-T-I-N-G. being on and around many farms i'm betting i spend more time in the woods in acouple of weeks than you do in a year. point blank the numbers are down in almost every area. granting there are some hot spots where the numbers are up but they are far and in between. and with the numbers of hunters these areas will start showing the same affects from the H/R. H/R plays a very big part in the numbers of big bucks you will see.

To be honest we killed more and bigger bucks before AR.That's because there were more to hunt in our area.Killed some dandies too.Just calling it as I see it.

C'mon guys, I'll concede that we are harvesting less bucks but when it comes the quality of the average buck harvested since ARhas definitely gotten bigger and better.
More and bigger bucks?..... NO, that didn't happen
Less bucks but more big ones?...... Yes, itHAS happened and can't be denied by anyone who's not under the influence of some mind altering substance.
