Is your state testing for CWD?
You guys and gals from other states have been reading about WI. How about your state? Have you heard if they will be stepping up or starting to test for CWD? I have heard that Iowa won't be testing as many deer for us. I'm sure Minnesota's gonna be looking close to that Elk farm. What are you hearing?

IL tested about 200 deer last year, and all came back negative. They plan to test 3,000 deer this year... mostly during shotgun season, and concentrating on counties that border WI (250 samples per county). Other random counties will see less samples.

I just received an email from the DNR today that Indiana will be testing 3000 deer from check stations around the state this fall.

In much of Colo. it is mandatory to turn in the head of deer and elk for testing, rest of the state has voluntary drop off areas, and if you voluntarily drop off skull for testing, you will pay $17 for the test, and is it tests neg., they will not be in touch with you, but if it tests positive they will.

indyhunter is correct about indiana, as i am a processor i was asked to supply deer heads from as many counties as possible. Right now we are in our "urban hunt" and i have supplied the locale dnr bioligest with deer heads to be taken to purdue university for a study being conducted there as well as other universitys across the state and during the shotgun season they will be collecting heads at the check -in station.............DAB
