ANY LUCK IN OHIO??
 

I have been hunting pretty hard in brown county along the ohio river, but the deer, where they were all last year, arent there now!![:@] So far one of my guest have only taken a small doe which was a mangament doe. I havent found anymore rubs or any scrapes, we didnt have a good mast crop of acorns this year either![:@] Things are off to a very slow start, i should have seen about 100 deer so far, and i myself have yet to have my first encounter with any deer myself. How much luck has anyone else who hunts ohio have had?

Hey turkey _hunter, thanks for the reply, i guess not alot of ohio hunters here huh? I had 3 nice toms come in on me while i was deer hunting in a ground blind, boy that got me excited..........too bad i didnt have a tag for fall season at that time!![:@] Needless to say i went out and bought one!

I'm seeing does and one small buck. He's a small 7pt, and his time on earth is limited if he keeps giving me 15 yard broadside shots...LOL

Not seeing much, though. Richland/Morrow county here.

I hunt in Clermont County. I also hunt in SE Indiana, whcih is where I have spent all of my time up to this point (Non Resident tag=$120.75!!) I am going to hunt in Ohio htis weekend. I hunt a property across the street from my mom and dad, and my dad says there are deer everywhere!!! Now that being said......I probably will not see a thing this weekend!!! [&:][&:]

I have been seeing deer in Erie County and Huron County. Have not scored yet but am seeing good numbers.

I got a doe Sunday evening. I have only seen one buck and that was a little 5 point on 3rd day of season. I have yet to hunt private land though. Friday I am going to a farm I have permission to hunt and I have seen a couple rubs there and a fresh scrape. I did some low impact scouting Tuesday afternoon. I'm still lookin for that big buck. I mostly hunt Delaware county.

We have seen several bucks in our area (Perry & Muskingum counties). Some are really nice. I haven't had any in close enough, but my hubby got a nice 8 pt on the 19th.

I have been out 5 times I only get to go out on the weekends. I hunted Monroe county 4 days and Holmes county one day. I have seen about 27 deer but nothing cloes enough to shoot.

i've been out 5 times and last weekend i had a bruiser c'mon in and at 35 yards he spooked before i could get a shot. I hunt my uncles farm in perry county i also hunt my little farm in perry county. At my uncles hes got id say about 15 good bucks and lots of does and many littler bucks. Saturday the 30th im gonna try a little bit of rattling and maybe some doe estrus scent or a bleat call once or twice because its bout time for the rut to be kickin

Lots of Deer on the run here in Hancock, Puntam counties areas. A real nice 13pt. got hit on S.R. 65, (what a waist!!!!!!!!!) Nice rack, really even and broad. Bows been in as you all would know, can't wait for shot gun to come.

Question to any that may know? I saw one post reference "liver" preparation and various ways to prepare it? My question is, is there any intricate things to keep in mind when field dressing it in order to take home? Any and all information would be of help? Thanks

I hunted this morning in the rain and saw nothing. I scouted this afternoon and found a decent area that looks like it gets a fair amount of hunting pressure so I might hit that tomrrow evening(public land is better on the weekdays). I'll be out all day tomorrow.

Hay Mike i can put yah on a deer i got a small buck 7 pointer he was broke off i thiought he was a doe coming into the field to eat ive only seen 3 deer in the last 2 days there bedding in the corn and coming out to eat the clover i havnt even had a chance to use my climer this year i get 2 more does and im done that buck is yummy made a roast last night

hey shpines my farm is on the outer skirts of junction real close to the old penatentary, my uncles is goin toward new lex on garey road.

I was out tonight and about 5:50 almost dark had a nice buck run 2 does but i couldnt get a shot at the buck but it was a little dark to be shootin.

I was doe huntin wed the bucks were all around me fightin and tearing up the brush didnt see any does till it was to dark to shoot thursday didnt see anything i hope tonight or sunday eve is better

I hunt in Tuscarawas county. I shot an 11 pointer Saturday, Nov.6 at 4pm. I hunted with 3 other guys and we seen 8 different bucks that day.He wasn't a monster by any means,but I'm pretty happy with him.He's the biggest 1 that I'v killed. He feild dressed at 182lbs. My buddies hunted the rest of the week but they didnt have much luck.

I'm from Paulding County in the NW part of the state.

From what I've heard, there are plenty of deer to go around this year. Things were pretty active this past weekend during Youth Gun Season, several folks around got deer, mostly does. There are rumors about big bucks running around this area though (I saw some monsterous tracks), so I'm getting psyched. I'm planning on getting my stand and a blind put up tomorrow, so I'll be hunting during shotgun season. If I don't get one, I'll do some crossbow hunting in December.

Yes! have been seeing bucks running does like crazy the week of the 15 th. . took an ok 10 pt. the 16 th. bird dogging a doe.

I was in Holmes county this morning, At 1st light a doe come up a hill about 20 yards from me got my gun up and ready about to shoot and out of the corner of my eye I see this tinny little doe take off and the other one went with it. Then I went ontop of that hill and saw about 7 deer. I coulda shot but i was in the same situation I was in during the youth season, a bit too far and behind some brush. So I didnt shoot. Later that day my cousins cousin opens up and a few mins later opens up again and I see this deer hobbleing down a hill. He hit it 4 times 2 in the back leg on it the fromt leg and one right abouve the butt. He was ontop of this hill so I yell to him its down here kicking around so he tells to to finish it.. So I slit it's throat. Later that day my cousin shoots a few times and doesnt know if he hit it or not so we go lookin and didnt see blood or anything. I saw about 15 deer today.

Hunted Athens County today. Got a small to medium spike buck. Didnt see anything but does today at all. Heard lots of shooting, but didnt see anything until the one I got at 3:47. She (or he as it turned out) was with 3 others that rushed past me, but that was it. The check station didnt really have any exciting stories either. One 12 pt and 3 or 4 8 pts, but that was all the bucks...mostly does today. Anyway...to get to my big question. Looking for a reputable and reasonable place to have my deer processed near Columbus. it seems most of the deer places when out of business im glad i cut up my own i might set up a place next year to do it for other people im heading to hillsboro thursday to help a friend run his i think he might sell his stuff out his taxidermy is so far behind i dont think he wants to do it next year its not hard to do you do need lots of freezer space and a cooler to season the meat

Well, i was able to get out last night for about 2hours. I left work early. I got to brown county at 3:45 and snuck up into a field as big as a football field, thats why we call it the football field. I backed up to an ol pin oak tree and took a knee. IT was a south wind where i was hunting, and where i was hoping the deer would come, they couldnt wind me unless the wind does what the weather man says its gonna do.(i wasnt too worried, they dont know there arse from there elbow!) At 5P.m i hear a loud belch like sound, like a hunter was to the right of me burping real LOUD. I loook to the west, and here comes like 15-20 does into this feild and this big 9pt pushing all of them!!!! The does are like right in front of me and looking at me real hard and are about to spook, all i can see is this buck's g'2 it was soooo big and long i knew he was a shooter. I stand up and all hell breaks loose!!!!! First shot i shoot over his back at 50yds, the next shot he drops and dissapeared instantly!!! I reload and slowly approach where i saw and he is down in the grass!! I whistle and yell for him to get up and he is not moving or breathing from what i can tell, so i kick him, and i dont see any blood at all.............i pick up his wrack very carefully and i feel bone crunching and i look, i shot him THROUGH THE EAR!!:D:eek: Dont ask me, that isnt where i was aiming!:) Only thing i can think of is when i was shooting i was looking at his antlers, but none the less he is in the truck. So Ohioans iam tagged out, and i will have pics as soon as my aol bill gets paid and i can download these pics!!

I was in the right place at the right time last Saturday morning. I took the bow to the state park to wait on a big boy that the gun hunters on the outskirts my push into my area that being a state park is bow only. Anyway, I had a spike come in and a nice 10 following him. I'll try to post the pic. It was a great hunt!
