Default ILL deer and turkey expo- What'd y'all think?

I was there on sat. but left before I would have liked b/c of the weather. Overall, I was impressed with the expo. i really wish I was there on sunday, it sounded like that was 'THE DAY'. I even lost my virginity,-- bowtech virginity that is I was amazed at how a bow could be that quiet with nothing on it but a rest and a nock! The Summit exibit was nice, too.I also visited the IBS and IFOR booths for close to a hour, and for all those involved, KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT!! I liked the fact that those 2 booths were more crouded than all of the outfitter's booths, combined. That says a lot about our residents.

ILL BOW MAN- i think i may have seen your 8x10 of the storm front- it was one of the better pics there, even if it wasn't your's

I attended the show on sunday and did alot of tire kicking. I was shopping for a new bow. I looked at the mathews SQ2, the bowtech Extreme SD and the Renegade Tominator-2 and the SBD, Kinda leaning towards the bowtech. I currenently shoot a Forge bow and was dissapointed to find out that they would not have a booth there ( I have a bone to pick with them )My local dealer really messed up my bow Bought a new toxonics sight and a case and a half of bucks haead seasoning and marinade. We bought the Epeards Lounge and got a raffle ticket at the IBS booth for the hunt with Judy Kovar. The boys had a great time I let them run lose most of the time,13 year olds were in hunting heaven but were mad at me because i wouldnt buy them a blow gun.I would of liked to attend more of the seminars but there wasnt enough hours in the day to do it all.Stopped by and saw some really nice Photos also.

I ended up going on Friday night. My buddy that I go with had to work the rest of the weekend. We missed a bunch of deer, but it wasn't so bad.

Glad you seen my picture gasser, I didn't know if it ever made it out there. The lady that took my entry seemed like she was on Mars. If she wasn't she was out there somewhere!!

Did anybody happen to notice the big non-typ mount that was on a pedestal mount next to the full body mount as you were getting to the deer heads? He scored over 200. That boy grew up in my hunting area. He was shot with muzzle loader about 2 miles away. But he had to go through my area.

Always adding Deer Cam picts. Check often.

I was there Friday afternoon. Most of the rack were still either coming in or going through the measuring area.

I stayed a few steps away from the bow dealers. I just dropped a bunch of money last year on a new bow. Didn't need to give myself any excuses.

I didn't go through the live animal exhibit. I looked at the penned turkeys though. I really liked the NWTF's turkey mount display. I preferred that over the live ones.

Gasser, thanks for the kind words. I worked the IBS booth all weekend. We had a god croud all weekend signing the petition and showing support of the cap. There were a few heated debates between us and the other side but all went well.I hope everyone looks over the information you got from the IBS booth and considers joining. I think if your a bowhunter in ILL its the best 20 bucks you can spend!! Lets face it the only way to be heard and taken seriosly is to be a large orginized group of people. I promise you the DNR ant politians would listen to our wants and needs even more if we had 6000 members instead of 600. There was alot of people who signed up at the classic and we sure welcome the support and are glad to have you aboard.

Lady Forge, I almost ask you when you bought the ticket if it was you but did not. I live in your area and talked to you once at kennekuk last year. I was there with a couple of my friends from NY and PA. I hope you win the hunt, it will be a good time. Herm and Judy Kovar are first class people, and even if the winner sees no deer it will be a hunting experience of a lifetime.

Ill Buck; Now you have got my curiosity up. Were you the younger gent or the older gent? Im sorry I didnt recognize you. So tell me how did the hunting at kennecuk go for you and your friends? I did see and hear of quite a few out of staters that were hunting there this year. I did get to see the harvest results for a couple of gents from texas and I do remember seeing a blue mini van from PA, and told a gent from down south NR, of the area and he came up and hunted there. Now tell me what town do you live in? And do you ever get over to our 3-D shoots at the East Central Illinois Archers archery range. There the 3rd sat of each month. Hope to see you there some time

I am the younger gent. I have only hunted kennekuk twice my whole life. I live just north of it in a town called Potomac. I have for the last 8 years owned my own ground and do 99% of my hunting on it. Ther are some real nice deer at kennekuk and middlefork, but I guess I am just lazy. I can get out of my truck at my place and be in most of my stands in less than 20 min. Thats cocked locked and ready to rock, not just walking time!! I do plan on getting out there some more next year but heck I say that every year. The guy in the blue mini van was my buddy. They should be back this year again. Saw some nice deer no shots however. No I haven't made it to any shoots over there, I see them in the paper and say I want to go but I guess its like the kennekuk deal. I say it every year but never get it done!! Oh well maybe someday.
