The dnr says the numbers are down. But I drove across the state on the 16th, and I saw ALOT of hunters driving home with their deer.

I went up to Houghton Lake with a buddy to hunt with my dad. Collectively, we saw a few does and a button buck. The week prior, my dad saw two spikes, a four, a six and a big 8! Don' t know where they went. A lot of people we talked to saw nothing. I think it might have been the weather. It rained on and off all weekend. I didn' t see too many deer on vehicles on the way home either. I could' ve counted them on one hand! Very strange.
I work in Allegan and a guy here said he took his nice 8 point to get it processed and saw 25-30 big racks at this place! One had a 24" spread and another was over 20" ! He said hardly any does or spikes or fours, all 6 or bigger! Man, I should' ve stayed down here for the opener. I hear the Allegan State game area gets pretty saturated with hunters though. I plan on going out this evening after work to see if I can' t call one in. I know there' s at least one or two big bucks in the area I' ve been bowhunting, but no luck seeing them yet. Hopefully no one was in there this weekend to get them!
Good luck with the rest of the season!

I hunt mostly SW MI. I' ve seen a few deer. Dont things are down. Hunting in Cass County. For me...seems like there were a lot of deer...they were hanging in the corn all bow season and even now. Corn is still up!!!!!

My good buddy hunts in Jackson and he says there are a TON of deer around him this year. He' s been seeing quite a bit out there...which should' nt be a huge suprise.

Hunt private property in Livingston County. Seems like there' s a ton of bucks getting hit by cars this year around here by the way...strange. Missed a six pt early on, seen deer, one real shooter - heavy body 10-pt. (no shot), and doe with fawns. I' m seeing deer, but not tons of em. Certainly not every time I go out.

Hey badshot.. I' m also hunting in Liv Co. I' m near Fenton Rd and Clyde Rd. Where you at? I have a 4pt and a doe in the freezer but that is it. A nice 6 at my dads is driving me crazy. I have rattled him in 3 times but no shots. My 8 yr old and I got to watch a nice 8 pt come to my rattles the other night but he stayed about 45 yds out so I decided not to risk it. Haven' t seen him since.

Eastern UP near Gould City and Naubinway area was somewhat slow for the people I know hunting the area. Heard some shot' s but not nearly as many as I thought I should. Heard from one freind that was talking to a local who thought the wolves were getting quite a few deer. I don' t know if there is any truth to that or not.
