I'm looking to move to north or south Dakota this spring from Ohio,, i have visited both but when considering moving there I need advice from a resident. Which metro areas offer jobs that are in good whitetail country yet not overran by the growing population of hunters?. All I do is bowhunt whitetails, it is my passion so whereever I go it is a must. Thank you and any inquirie on different areas is appreciated.

Sioux Falls, SD is the best " Big " town.
Rapid City is nice. Smaller town will have less pressured hunting but fewer jobs.
Lots of Whitetails in ND and they have the oil boom going. Can;t go wrong with either.

I too plan on moving out west. Sundance Wyoming is where I'm headed. It's close to SD. There is a good mix of whitetail & mule deer in the area and like what was said before Rapid would be a good size city for you. Nothing like the size of what we are use to here in Ohio. Good luck with your move.

Been to Rapid City and hunted West of there. Beautiful country. Tons of WT's.
CWD has become a big problem lately.
They might just make you into a MD hunter.
Best of luck, wish I could get up and move out there myself.

If you move to SD to hunt, I recommend staying away from Sioux Falls.
I live in SF and public land around here is hit pretty heavily. The Rapid City area is the place to be.
Also, Sioux Falls is bringing in more and more Sudanese refugees and immigrants, handing them homes/money/cars etc. Certain parts of the city are overrun and rapidly declining due to the fact that everything is a handout and no one takes pride in what they are given.
Just a warning. I love my home town, but I just don't agree with some of the stuff going on around here as of late.
