RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
I am all for limiting tags and raising NR prices. If folks will pay the higher price, why shouldnt the state raise them. It will benefit the resident hunters because the state will have more money to enforce laws and effectively manage the herd.
Knorberg, Maybe I am missing something here, but it seems to me you should have moved to Kansas during those 26 years. Would have been easier on your wallet for both hunting and taxes. |
RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
Well theres one thing for sure, the old [good neighbor policy] the states went by has gone out the window.150 class your right on 2 counts, both ILL and Iowas tag prices were raised by the state legislators. The hike in tag prices will hurt all the states that that go up. Check out the colorado dnr site, last year the put in one h$ll of a price hike for deer and elk there sales on tags were off a whoping 40% from the year be fore. Pro-line,had you bought land in Missouri you would not have to worry about being able to hunt it.Because of the old GOOD NEIGHBOR POLICY nonresident landowners can purchase reduced rate nonresident deer and turkey tags. How about this you all know those special hunts, managed hunts and youth hunts. Because of the old GOOD NEIGHBOR POLICY nonresidents can apply for these in missouri. The reason MO dept of Conservation gives for this is " Somehow excluding people from the random drawing process creates an incentive for them to try and cheat the system. We belivethe current system is most fair because NO one is excluded from applying and ALL applicants have an EQUAL chance of being selected" Fair and equal thats a out dated idea any more. Maybe I will live to see the day that hunting is again the sport of kings and the wealthy!!At the rate were going it might not take long. Ken 101st abn div 71-73

RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
well it seems as everyone has added their opinion but me so I will add mine. I think if you state charges us 250 to hunt then you should be charged 250 to hunt Mo. Then to be able to buy a Non-Res tag over the counter is crazy it should be draw only.

RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
Recipocal License is what they want so thats what they will get. Ill. is supposed to go to $200 plus non-resident & THEY- "LIKE" Iowa have big deer. I have been fortunate to hunt Iowa & Ill & Wis.. Not because of the "BIG" deer-Just cause it's nice to get away from home once in awhile & enjoy your hunting buddies lies. I have hunted some Southern states where their BIG deer weigh less than our yearlings-I just like the change & it "IS" enjoyable to experience other places. I will PAY whatever they want for NR & beleive me-I am NOT rich.
Good luck to all.... always thankful |
RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
so how in the heck to you justify charging fees when we dont even HAVE turkeys or whitetails???
I would agree, if there is to many friggn non res folks there...limit them, dont charge them out the wazoo for it! Thanks for looking out for us though...I am sure Ak can really charge what a moose/dallsheep/mtgoat/caribou is worth and I can garuntee its a helluva lot more then a turkey or whitetail!!! |
RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
dang no one is willing to say squat about that..guess I will have to propose that to the upcoming board members in March...maybe I can run it by the Board of Game Advisory meeting WED NITE!!! I sure as heck would love to see the heads I would turn......so much for your hunting dreams unless you belong to the rich and famous! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>!

RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
I think that the state needs to limit non-resident tags. How in the heck can that state charge a non-resident what they pay for a tag in their own state?? That is ridiculous. The NR tags should be around $125 as I think they are now. That is a pretty good price. It's not too much and not too little in my opinion. The state also needs to limit buck tags for everyone or have a point rule. We will never see big bucks here since everyone shoots the first thing with horns that comes along. I passed on many smaller bucks this year only to end up not getting a deer but I am fine with that.

RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
Hey MOBow,EVERYONE in northwest Missouri pretty much shoots the first thing with horns they see! Maybe you should come up next year and take a look at our check stations or talk to my deer processor? It might not be the case down where you are but in my neck of the woods people shoot tiny deer!

RE: Call Mo dept of Conservation NOW!!!!!!
I forgot to add that just today my dog dragged home a deer head. It was a tiny tiny 6 point. I believe my neighbor shot it. If you would like I could post a picture of it,MObow?
